Ok that should be pretty easy.
1. Download Stylish addons.mozilla.org/cs/firefox/…
2. Go to url about:addons
3. Click on user styles
4. Click on Write new style
5. Type there some name of style it doesn't matter what
6. And copy to the textfield this:
    #nav-bar {background: linear-gradient(rgba(253, 253, 253, 0.45), rgba(255, 255, 255, 0)) !important;}

I used this codes:
#nav-bar {background: linear-gradient(rgba(255, 255, 255, 100), rgba(255, 255, 255, 100)) !important;}
#personal-bookmarks {background: linear-gradient(rgba(255, 255, 255, 100), rgba(255, 255, 255, 100)) !important;}
to get the background white.
But I have two problems.
Example of my problem there you can see that the background of the active tab and the startpage/home (Startseite) are not white.
If you can tell me the code for these two elements it would be very nice.

Ok with the tab there is little problem I personally try to figure it because of my Firefox Ribbon UI for Firefox 29+ but I still didn't find all things too do what I need. But for you I have advice. the tab is made out of 3 parts which are called: .tab-background-start, .tab-background-middle, .tab-background-end so I hope this might be helpful if not then tell me

About the Startseite I don't know in my browser it is not blue but you can try those 2 plugins to get the name of class or id of this element:

then you will just click the are with right button and click inspect it is really easy to use

Sorry but the tab codes didn’t work for me, but the plugins work perfect.
With it I inspect the Startseite, but first it didn’t work.  I have to inspect the Startseite background in the customize tab and then I found out the id of it. (screenshot of it)

The active tab has at the moment a white background with the plugin Classic Theme Restorer . With it you can change the background color of the active tab. This plugin I have installed because I use a Windows 8 theme for windows 7 and firefox had a problem with this theme. (see screen ) So I have to use Classic Theme Restorer with the settings: "Remove tab toolbars background fog (Windows AeroGlass)" to fix the green background on top.

Now all works perfect.   

I have my good old Windows 7 with a Windows 8/8.1 theme and a Firefox with a Windows 8/8.1 design. (see screen )  

I’m using these Stylish codes:

      #nav-bar {background: linear-gradient(rgba(255, 255, 255, 100), rgba(255, 255, 255, 100)) !important;}

      #personal-bookmarks {background: linear-gradient(rgba(255, 255, 255, 100), rgba(255, 255, 255, 100)) !important;}

      #PersonalToolbar {background: linear-gradient(rgba(255, 255, 255, 100), rgba(255, 255, 255, 100)) !important;}

And the plugin Classic Theme Restorer to get the active tab white.

I'm really looking forward to see your result   Big thank for your efforts!! I would like it if you would orientate with the design on the MZ8 theme for firefox because I really like that theme but I thik you are able to make a more better looking visual style for firefox.    And (only a request) do you think you cold be able to change the icons of firefox to which are more looking like windows 8 metro scheme? That would be awesome! And at least, do you think ther is a way to move the menu button from the upper right to the upper left corner and change the menu icon to the firefox lettering that the button looks like the menu button in firefox >v29? This wold be awesome too!! But wait and see how your theme will look like and if there are way to improve the appearance.   At the end I would like to offer you my help with the more mordern looking icons which I could create for you. But for now, keep up your fantastic work!

Wow thank you very much for recommending me MZ8 theme because it looks that this might help me solve problem with new Australis looking tabs

About the icon it is kinda easy to do so but you have to change resources of firefox.exe so it is impossible to contain it in theme itself but it can be easily done by resource hacker for example. If you want I can teach you how (because it have to be changed after every firefox update). And if you really want to help me with icons for example as you have said I would be glad. In fact working alone on all my projects is kinda hard and tiring

About the moving menu button to upper left corner this problem I have solved but unfortunately I have to change something in file named omni.ja which is in parent folder of firefox what makes installation of my theme even more complicated and what means I will have to change it with every firefox update . Okay, I know Resource Hacker but it's too many effort to use it to change the icons because you must do this after every update and the firefox australis icons are almost like the metro scheme. So, I could revise the Icons of firefox that they look more like metro and could send them to you, but it seems to be a too big effort to geht them into firefox. Maybe it's possible with a selfmade theme?

And I could program an installer for your theme with visual basic, I'm a booldy beginner in programming with vb, but I do trust me that I'm able to program a good installer.    Or a batch installer

Ok it looks that there is no other way to change the icon of firefox as far as I know Even worse is that this time moving the menu button to upper left corner works with just one version of firefox too

About the installer I was thinking about using firefox .xpi installation file for addons which might make installation easier but I am not very experienced in this way Btw I am programmer in VB too I made pretty good scientific calculator once which I still use But no more boasting from my side

But I am looking forward for your help with my projects sometime if you want or also I can help you some day if you want

Yes, good idea, but I can't help you with css right now, maybe in the future but I'm able to create icons and work with batch.

Could you send me more details, like how profiles folder differs? try to go to this location in your windows explorer: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ You could also make new profile and determinate where to store it. How to do it you will find here: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/p… I have Firefox 24 and Cyberfox 24 (Firefox for x64) and I have no problems with them they use same profile folder. If non of above will help you tell me.

The problem is that you are in folder ...\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\asg6jmff.default but you have to install it to ...\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\asg6jmff.default there you will find folder extensions as usual It should help if not tell me.

You activated Ribbon UI BUTTONS userstyle. This userstyle is experimental and buggy. But this problem with vertical border could be easily solved.
Just find userstyle Ribbon UI BUTTONS and go on line with number 26. there you will find this:
#back-button {
so copy there after curly bracket this:
background-color:white!important;
so the line 26 should look like this:
#back-button {background-color:white!important;

I lost all of my styles when installing this
Is there any way to restore them? I just got firefox customized the way I want it and I had so many styles installed that I can't remember them all and now they are gone. Help???
