I'm seriously late, and I'm sorry, but I really like how it became. The feathers and this branch are... waw... I love the colors too. Amazing job !

Too bad these birds are endangered species, wish i'd seen one but i've been told they're hard to find.

Mhh... Really, it's such a shame. I wish to see one of them one day as well, hopefully I'll get the chance. And I hope so for you, too.

Yeah, hope Quetzals don't extinguish before we see one.

Yeah, indeed! That would be just so sad. They're such beautiful birds. They deserve much better...

Thank you very much! Perhaps the position of the head is a little off, I'm still trying to get the hang of getting the right eye for anatomy. Thanks for pointing that out, it's really helpful!
That could have even been the one I referenced from! You could tell me his name so I could credit him if you/he would wish, I really want to make sure I'm not hurting any copyrights. I've had the photo saved on my laptop when I went searching for some pictures on Google a while ago and I just couldn't remember where I had it from. Hope I didn't hurt any feelings! ^^"

His name is Jose Yee. I know you can do a google search and it will pop up with quite a few of his photos on the avitourism board, flikr.com, and various other sites. I believe he may even have a few photos here on Deviantart, but I don't know if any are of the quetzals.

[link] This is his photo stream on flickr...I believe the photo I am thinking of is in this gallery, but can't be sure. I will have to ask him about it when I see him on again lol

No problem. He's had stuff published by NatGeo and, of course, various people have cross posted (or stolen) some of his photos, so the particular photo I am thinking of may not have a watermark or even be in his flickr collections. It is also a possibility that he may not be the photographer of your particular reference photo lol.

Oh, that's what you have with popularity, everything good you have will certainly be stolen in any way. >< Sounds horrible!
Whenever we find this photo, I'll be gladly crediting his name in my artist's comment. (:
