The words say "no one is ever born bad but you can only push someone so far"This picture is based on the 'puppy theory' a puppy is born good but if you beat it starve it and treat it rotten it becomes violent agressive thing.
Snape is tormented by the marauders and is pushed into acting in a hostile manner to defend himeself.

Severus' teen years were so sad but at least it shows how damaging bullying can be, a very important lesson for teenagers. Snape is a very complicated character, he's not evil even though he's done some bad things. He regrets the horrible things he's done and lives with that guilt for the rest of his life, which shows that he has a heart and isn't truly evil at heart. Even the fact that he's mean to most of the time is probably largely becauseΒ very few people have shown him kindness in his life. I don't think he even knew how to be kind (he insulted his only real friend to her face, showing he couldn't even treat the one person in his life he loves the most with kindness.)Β This shows it's important to treat others with kindness even when they don't deserve it. For example, even though he was mean to Harry, Harry was at fault as well, he was so blinded by hate and anger towards Snape that he never notices that the man is in a great deal of pain (which actually seems rather out of character for Harry if you think about it.)

Like how serial killers are rarely born killers, they normally start to kill because of something that happened in they're childhood. It's called a stresser.
Like abuse, neglect, the loss of a parent, or in this fanart here; bullies!
Then YEARS later, something happenes that trigers them, like in they're childhood, like someone bumping into them by accedent, they recact aggresively, because they couldn't fight back before.
The man who bumped into the guy is innocent of course, but the killer sees it as purposly!
So now, whenever that happenes, or something that reminds him of it, he acts.

Great picture, though I don't think you can blame the Marauders full out for him becoming death-eater. He was badly treated by his parents, i s'pose, but I don't think Sirius got along with his either, so he could've been bad too. But... He CHOSE gryffindor, decided to be different from his voldemortloving family. Snape chose slytherin before he and the marauders became enemies; he's in slytherin for a reason. Yes, they were assholes, but I find it hard to believe Snape wasn't an asshole towards them too, on occasions.

He probably invented Sectumsempra to use on James Potter, judging from his "For enemies" description that went with it, so he was hardly innocent
Also, it was his choice to befriend a group of Death Eater wanna-bes and buy into their agenda, which led to his outburst where he called Lily a mudblood and alienated her.
So yes, he did make a lot of bad choices. Luckily, when the consequences caught up to him he saw and did what was right in the end.

GREAT JOB! I'm a MAJOR masochist when it comes to things like these, so making me cry is a compliment of sorts. It's scary, too. Snape was such a misunderstood child, so innocent until school... and I have yet to figure out if he willfully joined the death eaters or if it was self defense.

But Lupin didn't exactly pick on Severus, did he? In the stories (if I remember correctly), he really didn't do anything - for good or for evil.
In fact, it amuses me that he (Lupin) calls Severus by his first name (or Professor Snape) until he finds out that Snape kills Dumbledore. Then he calls Severus "Snape" with a good dose of spite... and probably outright hatred.
