It's another painting of David Tennant (woot) this time as the sugary sweet new and sparkly Doctor Who.i decided to do something different with my portraits; this time i've potrayed an expression rather than a pin-up pose. I've used a material i haven't used properly before guache (ok so it's watercolour with white added to evey pigment but it still counts as another material. AND i have chosen to paint on an alien surface; cardboard. oh and its in black and white.
i've chosen to paint the moment in 'Doomsday' when Rose Tyler is about to be sucked into a big void of nothing-ness.
He's going : "Rose - NNNNNNNnnnnnnnnnnnnnnuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!"
All in all it hasn't turned out too badly i'm rather pleased and i'd like to paint on cardboard again. I may add to it, i wanted to be slightly surreal and add lineart roses to the background but i'll do that using photoshop.
Finally i've made a little logo woot check me out.

What medium do you usually use? Looks like you'd be pretty good with oil paint.

actually i've never used oilpaint. this one is guache paint and usualyy my pet medium is watercolours

You should give oils a try. You seem to be really good with colours and blending.

About a week touch dry. But a lot longer for it to be actually dry.

gosh i never realised how long it takes! i suppose thats why its good for blending and that. i have tried working with acrylics in a blendy kind of way but find it dries very quickly

I think it is extraordinary that you did not simply chose to paint the Tenth, but really capture a moment, an expression by using your very own artistic means like the b/w coloring and the ground of cardboard. very unique, individualistic approach - I love that in fanarts, I may even say it's essential in fanarts for me and you managed great! fav!
btw: I'm looking forward to the Photoshop adding but I think I prefer this one... has this raw flavour to it that fits the harshness of the emotion of that scene.

gosh i cant even remember considering adding stuff in photoshop lol it was so long ago. You'll be happy to know though i havent done anything more to it, its on my wall as nature intended lol.
I agree with making the portraits have some kind of movement or emotion, i like finding nice poses from screen shots, anything to make it interesting or different or standout

That episode was awesome beyond all reason, and this does a good job of capturing the emotion in one of the most important moments. Poor Doctor
