Description

Art Trade for ~cahir-the-witcher . It's their character, not mine.

He was fun to draw, but making the black braid visible on a black shirt was a #^*#%*$^%*$$*.

I did not expected that, but do not worry! It's not the case of something being terribly wrong - just different. It's always interesting to see the transformation of comics into realism. it's like a friendly butt slap...

I found it rather noteworthy how you managed to notice how I mostly try to make Kajetan's (yellow/amber) eyes as something that should be of significance! believe me, it's very hard do it in black-white comic! it's great! I though you would go either for full blown colours or monochrome. I was somehow hoping, for a short period of time, that you would try to 'battle' with his scarred arm, although I discarded that idea as of battling with semi-burned scars in realism would be a little bit too much for 'just a trade' but I love that you all in all you included that there is 'something wrong' nonetheless.

It's interesting how on first glance it's just a simple portrait, but more I look at it the more I am able to pull out of this simple picture. to tell the truth, I think I already would be able to draw a (short) comic out of it! maybe one day I will...? for sure I'll be 'coming back' to this picture in times of artistic doubt to experience that friendly butt slap all over and again

to shortly sum things up I'm happy how our trade turned out! it was an honest, good trade! wish I had more of such hi-quality trades!

and yes, drawing black on black had always been a challenge but very rewarding id it turns fine!

Frankly, comic--->realism is a very very hard to do, because when people draw a comic figure, they do have some more realistic idea of their character in their head, too, but unfortunately, I don't get to see it. So I have very little to go on with, unless someone -writes- a detailed description for me, in which case I can probably get closer to what they're thinking about. I thought of going into more detail with the clothes/hand, but I couldn't even understand what the fabric of the cloth was, what that thing in on his chest was (some clothing detail?), if his hand was literally burned still or mostly healed or whatnot...

Most of the time I was just staring at the screen thinking BUT I CANNOT I... HOW... WHAT IS EVEN THIS?

If you have any corrections to make though, like, please make his eyebrows more x, or his nose more z, I can gladly do a retouch to bring it closer to your ideal.

don't worry I'm such a lousy artist that I often ask myself the same: 'BUT I CANNOT I... HOW... WHAT IS EVEN THIS?'! To this day I'm not sure myself how exactly to classify that guy - I mean, he is of fictional race! In fictional world! he has yellow eyes for crying out loud! I mean I always imagined Kajetan of not being 'white-white' - native-American-ish maybe? I'm not even sure! his hand is actually burned to up above his elbow, since he got a widely spread/nasty infection before the start of the comics. The only way to 'save' his life and arm was by burning the infected area. the wound's mostly healed but the scarring is yet to blanch. that's is also why he has 'three' fingers on his right hand (the index finger and middle finger are scarred together just as his ring finger and pinkie finger). I know it's all far fetched and all, but hey! why the hell not!

when it comes to his clothing it's a mutated version of Kontusz (at very first pictures Kajetan was depicted wearing it - it's because sarmatism /XVII century Poland was my main/initial inspiration for the whole setting on his project). If you ever need any inspiration in case of his clothes you can just start from there... and then go wild

if you feel like re-touching go on, but as I said, for me the trade is fine - one of the best I took part in.
