Description Lucid though 12/07
Inks, Watercolours and Pens.

I painted this when i was in year 10, during exams.

I was living an ambivalent life, like i was being pushed and pulled at the same time.

the piece plays with idea's of transformation and transcendence.

Enjoy - Lyndsay

This is absolutely beautiful!!!
I love the way she's bursting, melting and growing - it's so very morbid and yet so full of life! As life, really, we go with the flow and create a flow of our own, and from every death, and every crisis, something else is born within us. The way she bends, and twists and grows to be bigger than the waves is a beautiful representation of ourselves and life.
And, always, I adore your lines and colors.

For anyone who doesn't know you, Lyndsay, in this piece you've opened-up the window to your mind enough for anyone to have a clear image of the landscape of your character. I find the idea of a girl being both pushed and pulled by the water that constitutes the nature of her femininity to be absolutely fascinating. She sees the world as the water that she's battling though her body twists and turns in refusal to play the persona that it's given. With her art and expression (her yellow tongue), she tries to diminish the wrath of the waves that aim to uproot her. From this struggle rises two flowers, adrogynous by nature, inevitably sexual, but truly transient in the girl's mind.
Madmoiselle Lyndsay, you're well on your way towards whatever answer that you seek. My hope for you is that you're moving towards something and not away from something else, for rejection only leads to a frail life in a vacuum where existence becomes merged with struggle.

Keep the window open and the rest of us'll enjoy the breeze while you enjoy the light

There's not really a whole lot I can say that hasn't been said, but I definitely adore the lineart and the colors.
There seems to be a lot of tension in the transformation, but it doesn't feel like a bad tension. Hm.

I don't know, but I really like it.

When I start my career....10 years from now, I'll find your art and buy it all. Is that water that is metaphorically pushing and pulling you? What is it that they're pulling out of their mouth? Is that a second face down there? Those hands are awesome....

Beautiful. It reminds me of Vishnu floating on the primordial waters, with a lotus flower blooming from his navel.
The amount of colour, detail, and movement is.. inspiring, to say the least.

I love this piece - I can completely feel the tension and the feeling of being pulled apart. Her exploding spine is fabulous, and I love her crumpled hands. The wave is also great -without using a typical frothy image (instead making it look almost stained glass) you created such a surreal image. I love every part of this piece, and I'm stunned by your water color skills.

How old where you when you painted this? - I'm not sure how "year 10" translates overseas...

Hey, thanks for the awesome comment

I was 16 when i painted this. Then i revised it last year.

It was a fun piece and very much reflected my life at the time. The whole transformation thing...

And nice avatar btw.

this is probably my favourite painting of yours (though I do love them all 8D). everything about it is just perfect; composition, colors, motive, details and most of all; the overall feeling. I can't stop looking at it.

Why thank you, that means a lot! actually I think I usually get more than one finished every week, so I rather need to slow down.. I always feel like I'm rushing it; I really need to put more effort in my work.. and start being more creative.. :3
