Description
This is one of my latest paintings (with kind permission by to use a wonderful photo as reference) - it is an oil on canvas measuring approx 4ft by 3ft - it was done using a method called scraffitto which is great fun to do.

The method is to add a layer of colour (oil) on the canvas using a cloth to apply - in this painting the underneath colour was a deep cream - then this colour is left to dry completely.
When dry a top layer of oil paint is added (usually a home made black) and then the painting is made by removing paint with paint movers or brushes or anything else you feel like using - it is a technique used by many of the old masters so I am glad to have learned it.
