Very nice hair, pretty face, ample breast ( realistic) and thanks for letting it be just a tad " nippy" in there.

Lynxander In reply to janedj [2017-01-15 10:36:57 +0000 UTC]

Thank you No. I tried RedSpec with a few renders at some point, but I didn't like the results very much.

What shader do you use?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lynxander In reply to janedj [2017-01-15 14:12:18 +0000 UTC]

For her, the original Poser texture, tweaked with Octane plug-in ... as I do with a lot of things.

I'll send you a note

I wish they'd get Octane for Daz Studio...how long did this take to render? Did you have to use special shaders like iRay does?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lynxander In reply to Spydraxis01 [2017-01-10 11:25:29 +0000 UTC]

There has been an Octane plug-in available for Daz Studio for quite some time. I was considering buying it and took a peek at it, but it looked so different from the Poser one that I changed my mind.

I let the final render go on for about an hour and a half. (to clear up graininess caused by candles)

Most of the time, tweaking the properties of Poser materials with the plug-in works nice enough, when one develops a feel for what to do. Things like for example metals, glass and car paints look a lot better when replaced with Octane mats.
Here I have just replaced the mats for towel bars, door behind her head, a gold detail on the bathing suit and the candles. All the rest is Poser mats, tweaked with the plug-in.

Thanks for all of that wonderful information, I've been doing renders professionally for some time now and I try to get as close to real as I can, but 3delight Β isn't quite up to the task. Sadly Reality, takes too long as does iRay...so I'm looking for something with speed and results. Thus far there's just nothing up to the task but I really love the way Octane looks. I'll see if I can't find that plugin. Thanks again.

Lynxander In reply to Spydraxis01 [2017-01-11 14:26:13 +0000 UTC]

I tried Reality a bit in 2013. It rendered well, but was slow because it was CPU only back then. It had problems with a lot of props too. Haven't tried the new one that supports GPU rendering.

I can relate to that. The low performance of rendering in general is really frustrating.Β

Plug-in can be found at home.otoy.com/
Octane standalone (required) + DS plug-in is listed as 579 dollars.

I think it's included in the bundle price.

Spydraxis01 In reply to Lynxander [2017-01-11 18:54:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I just noticed that...but still that is expensive as hell. Β Right now the majority of my tenders take least than an hour with a 1gb built in gpu and 8 gb of ram. I have a 4 gb reshoot and 16gb ram trait to install, which should bring my render quality up considerably not to mention really body what I can do compared to what I've been able to do. Maybe octane will be in my future but at the current price is out of my reach. Thanks for the link and the info though, I'll keep it all bookmarked.

Lynxander In reply to Spydraxis01 [2017-01-11 19:48:21 +0000 UTC]

It sure is, and that's one of the reasons I'm sticking with Poser, despite the Genesis 3 issue.
Octane also needs expensive graphic cards, preferably several if one can afford it.
The specs of my PC is under the kitten on my front page. Rather modest for rendering purposes. A nice working pace would require a 10-30 times more powerful machine, but it feels we've been using these more or less same performance quad cores for 10 years now.

Spydraxis01 In reply to Lynxander [2017-01-11 23:32:42 +0000 UTC]

The only problem with Poser for me is the interface which I had a hard time figuring out for even the basic functions, an the price-tag...Daz is STILL free. I was using Poser Pro 8 the hardest thing to do was find my runtime content LOL and that was using Daz 3.5 or some such...Octane may come as part of the package but the package still costs more than free LOL

Lynxander In reply to Spydraxis01 [2017-01-12 12:16:14 +0000 UTC]

I'd like to be able to use DS so I could use Genesis 3. It just feels so redundant to learn a new program for doing basically the same things I do with Poser. I've used Poser for 10 years now, so I am very comfy using it and get fairly nice results with it. I'm unable to muster the motivation for learning DS at this point, but I may have to some day.

I actually bought a forward compatibility auto-fit plugin for G3 to G1 Β because there's no need for me to spend time and money on a new model when my G3 is backwards compatible to the entire V,M,A,H,F, clothing line. The G3's have some nice morons so I have them just the same but otherwise I almost never have a need for them and they're resource intensive. My G1 is far more versatile, and much easier on my limited resources. Human morons don't impress me much I have tons that I can use to sculpt characters myself. Β Aliens and creatures have my full attention though. Lol
