Description A sketch turned into a painterly-mess haha

I didn't even really bother with a base lineart layer in SAI like I have been lately, and used almost every brush that SAI has. Adjustments and such were done in CS4.

Took around 2 hours or so, on and off.

Cloud is my favourite character of all time! I will never forget the great fun I had playing FF7, I laughed, cried, and nerd raged when I finished, because I wanted more!

If you like this style, let me know, I really don't know what mine is yet. Also as always, if you have suggestions for a particular character you'd like to see me draw in this style, let me know.


Edit: Yes his poor arms are chopped off haha I really just didn't feel like adding arms. It was only supposed to be a portrait sketch afterall!

Awesome, Cloud is my fave male character too! I should really do more drawings of him.

This style is great, it's simplistic but fairly detailed too, I really like it, great job.

@.@ i'm diggin' this style, very solid colours with clear eyes and effects to make the shoulder guard metallic is a nice touch with Cloud looking even more awesome. The collar looks realistic though would be easier if the full torso was there to comment on how it looks overall xD

I really love how his eyes turned out, I surprise myself sometimes! I would love to do a more detailed Cloud painting one of these days, and do him much more justice. This was only meant to be a doodle, but I just couldn't stop myself and kept going haha

haha i tend to do the same a lot when it comes to arms but mine is because i'm just so bad at drawing them heheh. they take me ages 0_o

Thanks Mierin! I hate arms and fingers x.x oh my gosh I suck so much at them!! I probably have about 100 reference guides on my computer to refer to when I get stuck, but I don't have a steady hand. My fingers always look like fish sticks when I am done LOL.

then instead of avoiding arms let's just draw plenty, until it becomes second nature. like a man with ten arms, for example. and god knows how many hands...
