Description And here starts the doujin! The cover image explains all of what's going down here. (Two pages for this update, just because it works better that way.)
A lot of this is also me experimenting with Manga Studio and how it works, so forgive a bit of the messiness and bleh. Practice is always good!

I'm using Manga Studio 3.0, the full version. Lots of fun features, and I'm still getting used to it!

And thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

I have to reiterate that I love the way you draw the Destiny Islands trio. Kairi looks particularly adorable here. The expressions communicate things so well that if one just takes a bit of time to look the page over, there's no need for further explanations.

In the first panel, Donald and Goofy's silhouettes on the foreground add some nice depth to the scene all the while establishing their presence - it might have seemed a little flat without them there. The choice of darkish grey with a simple pattern for their silhouettes is a good one, because if they'd been detailed, they would have stolen attention from the scene behind them, and I believe that had they been entirely black the effect would have been somewhat the same. Similar, "watered-down" effect in second panel also works well.

Riku being happy for just being with his friends is such a sweet sight. Makes sense that he would have a particular appreciation of their company, after everything. And I still obsess over his hair. I have been obsessing over his hair from the moment I realised where this was going. His long, sleeveless coat is an interesting accessory, too. Quite Riku-like. And the Heartless looks quite like it should, methinks.

And on quite a random note, the chubby little jug is cute. ^^

Manga Studio? Is this like a program for putting in tones and the like? because I would KILL for that sort of thing. Where can I get it?

LynxGriffin In reply to Hira--Akami [2006-11-13 01:16:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's a program for toning (it comes with a lot of preset tones, plus you can import Computones for it as well). Ahh, I got my copy through a few connections. But, I did see it for sale at some conventions, and I'm pretty sure you can buy it online, too. Check Tokyopop's website, I know they promo it heavily since a lot of their creators use it. I'm sure there's a place where they advertise where it can be bought, and I think they have a section in their forums where you can get help for it. :3

Also, if you ever get a copy, [link] has some helpful tutorials when starting out in the program. Good luck!

Actually Curious Labs ( the makers of Poser ) make Manga Studio in a deal with TP...

I bought the cheap $50 version just for the toning and the speedline effects. But they got a supped up version for $300 that does more in case you need to do lettering and other effects. ( been a while so I forgot the difference between the two )

Heres the link [link]

Oh and for the super lazy you can purchase it online. I did that with Manga Studio and Anime Studio. They'll even send you backup cds for a small price.

Oh and nice pages btw. Nice to see one of my favs working again. I'd do the same but I got a Guild Wars addiction.
