And weeee, the model is finally finished!
This is the Strahl from Final Fantasy XII (in case you missed it last time). The model is pretty much done now, even though parts of it are just kinda stuck onto each other. It's difficult to tell how exactly pieces of it put together! Either way, I'm REALLY HAPPY with how this came out. <3 It's like the first ever 3D model I didn't totally screw up on! XDI do want to texture it as well, but I'll have to do that on my own time, later down the line. It'll be a bit tricky to get some of the designs on there.
(And yay, thanks to Stan for showing me how to do that ambient occlusion pass that makes the shadows on it look good!)

Thank you for this. I like to cover things lately by hand after surgery, and this fits my style for today. All I have is a B&W printer with a great set of pencils. I call it hand physical therapy. Beats the clay and stretch bands.

Very nice but the cockpit looks off the surrounding metal around the glass is slightly lower so you can tell the difference and the cockpit has a slight point to it. In fact it looks like you have no cockpit at all it starts where that band that is in line with the wings is and curces like an egg down to where you have the forward prongs first indent. It also has a fin on top the Cockpit and a slight metal extension at the tip.
So besides the missing cockpit it looks very good and very detailed good work.

I think if you search "Final Fantasy XII Strahl Balthier" or something of the like at Google Image, there's a picture there of Balthier and Fran in the foreground, with the Strahl in the distant background. It's a small pic, but you can see all of the ship's underside.

I have that picture actually. Is that really the underside? From other FMV shots it looks slightly different (the top and the bottom are not mirror images of each other).

this looks like something out of xenosaga. doesn't remind me much of final fantasy though.
the most i've made are sims and keyblades.

That is so freaking awesome! The ambient occlusion does make the shadows look good--without it would look flat, I think. It gives it a feel of texture.
