the idea was that at some point in his career blurr must have had to learn to fix his own ver special parts in his legs

Given that racing is a high-stress activity, repairs would be needed frequently, and it would be both expensive and annoying to constantly be visiting a medic. If Blurr could do the repairs for himself, it would eliminate that need.

EXACTLY the point! when light hits metal the light BOUNCES... so far its not so clear in this drawing. not too clear..

everything has a light bounce, it doesn't have to be metal to have it.
Most people are used to painting shiny car metal which has an obvious bounce.
However, worn down metal or unpolished metal does not bounce as brightly and can often be mistaken for even concrete and the like.
plus. You do not always have to do everything realistically in a picture to make it look good. sometimes thats just too much.
