It really frustrates me when I'm talking to someone, just making a simple point, and they assume I'm getting upset, even when I'm wording my comments very calmly. It's usually not that hard to tell the difference between when someone's freaking out and when they're trying to be mellow and rational. But when you tell someone to "calm down," it only succeeds in irritating them.In my case, even when I'm upset, I don't appreciate people telling me to calm down, because it only makes me more upset. If I'm already frustrated or angry, someone else telling me to calm down is just going to come off badly. So please, don't tell me to calm down, or try to convince me that you know how I feel better than I do.

My messages always come across in a way I didn't intend them to over the web. QuQ;;; sometimes I'll be calmly suggesting to someone something and they assume that I'm trying to attack them or that I'm hostile.
As an added note though, I too get more upset when someone tells me to calm down when I really am angry. I think that's very common if not universal I think. >u<

I know that feel. When I'm pointing out something and then I get told to calm down, I feel like they don't take me serious. And gosh, THEN I will get angry and upset because not be taken serious enrages me as hell xD

I know! It's like when someone keeps asking you if you're angry, even when you've already told them you aren't, over and over and over. Then you actually do get angry because they won't let it go.
