P.S. and if there is any back story to "Shadowlands", I'd love to hear it. I found this image in part because i am starting to play with writing that will collectively be called Shadow or possibly even Shadow Land...and when i searched the word, this image turned up.

This is my new favourite painting ^_^ I love the greens and the details and the bird and the waterfalls and the girl. Did you have a reference for her, or was she entirely your creation? (I ask because if you had a reference, I'd love to see it, as I feel funny trying to copy other people's art, and her face is very inspiring - and if you didn't, I shall have to fall down in disbelief and worship)

I love this ... A LOT.. but I feel the bird in the top right corner serves both as a distraction and feels rather pointless.
It really detracts from the heavy emotional feel of the image..

I love your work and would like to ask some questions. ie. How do you reference your work or do you just work from your imagination? Is there a way of contacting other members on here or is this the correct method, I only joined yesterday?

Hi Larainjp, thank you so much, I am glad you like my work. You can leave comments or send a personal message, or you can email the members, its up to you how you want to contact them. I look at lots of references when I work. Sometimes the first hours of an image are spent just gathering references. I use to have two monitors, one for my references and one I was working from, I have moved recently, and haven't set that up yet, so now I am just flipping backing and forth when I work, or I set it up in a small window to look at while I work. I hope that answers your question, glad to have you here and thanks again!

Thanks for your reply. I've only just discover I have 'messages'. Now playing catch up. I'm hoping I'll pick up more as I go along but with only just finding this page I think I'm a bit slower these days. Been taking it easy too long I think.
