This is the 1st in a series of colouring practices where I experiment with a pure hard cel shading style. I've found that I am able to complete artworks quicker in this manner but one disadvantage with this style is that I require an accurate reference in order to get the shading just right. Otherwise, I would be just reaching in the dark. The kinds of reference photos I use are based on how creative the posing is and how it might look suitable as a sticker or a small physical print. The reference photo I used for this one comes from tigerheatproductions' Instagram gallery, and the model for this photo is l.f.974 from Instagram also(but his account is private and he doesn't accept side or dummy accounts). Other variations including a nude and beardless version are on my twitter!
