Kinda makes sense why Callie decided to give up being famous. She didn't want to fight Marie over something like this, so she let Marie have the fame and just started living a normal life.

You only see Callie in Splatoon 2 via amiibo and as part of the final boss and during the moment she is freed and proceeds to sing Calamari Inkantation alongside her cousin. It wasn't until nearly a year later that she returns... aside from learning of some lore between the duo in their conversations, Callie's mainly just there as a stat tracker.
Meanwhile, Marie's always there in Inkopolis Square. The least the devs could've done is have Callie there as well. Marie gets to enjoy the Splatfests that the Squid Sisters' successors put on for their fans while Callie just misses out. It's depressing to me that more people prefer a complete sasslord who occasionally insults her cousin over someone who's so sweet, cute, and says things that make you wanna hug her.

The way how the spotlight is focusing on Marie while Callie is on the darkness further shows how things were for those two after the final Splatfest! Nicely done!
