the colour is lovely - I think the odd exposed pieces of masonry and detail are contrived - was the building in too bad condition to leave completely bare?

i imagine!
while rebuilding the downtown here (they had to restart from zero, after passing the bulldozers, they used pastel tones of yellow and pink, there were a lot of talking too, fighting and heated discussions, they calmed down a little when they saw images how the original building where those exact tones.

I always love complimentary colors and use them in almost all of my paintings......
