Description General Jardan Krassus - Hero of the First Contact War, he was a junior officer when the human counteroffensive on Shanxi caught the invading turians off-guard. Holding his platoon together after the death of his commander, Krassus earned the unshakeable loyalty of subordinates and superiors alike through his exceptional endurance and charisma. Now, he leads a terrorist organisation bent on exacting revenge, not only against humanity but the turian leadership who dishonoured the sacrifice of his men for the sake of galactic politics.

This is a WIP shot of the first section of a grand composition which will eventually be the cover art for my Mass Effect novel, Interceptor. The story is an original espionage thriller about a young turian C-Sec officer drawn into a galaxywide conspiracy set shortly before the first game. This is the first time I've been able to draw the multitude of original characters portrayed in this story, which is something I've been wanting to do for a long, long time. As you can see, the armour is yet to be completed and the face paint is just a barebones reference layer, but I was so pleased with the progress so far I just had to share it.

Krassus is a venerable old turian general - a soldier's leader - and I wanted to reflect that by giving him a broad face and long upper lips/lower jaw to give him that physicality. I coupled this with thick but sharply-angled cheeks to give him a touch of severity without making him look gaunt. I'm quite pleased with the overall uniqueness of his facial structure - for a turian, anyway - even if it looks a bit odd in places compared to say, the in-game models.

There are a hell of a lot more characters to come, so stay tuned.
