Burning Man is a massive festival held each year in Black Rock City. It's a massive art festival with tons and tons of people involved. Each year they have a theme that the festival goes by, last year it was a look into the future and this years it's the green man. Here's a [link] to their website if you'd like to know anything about it, I'm not the best source of info.

This is so cool!
I hate line printing myself. The few I've done all came out embarassingly bad and I always nearly end up cutting a finger off.
You seem to be the opposite. D:
This looks fantastic! I love the animals.

Thank you very much. I think lino printing just takes patience and planning. You have know what to cut before hand. no pun intended.

m4g1c4lm3 In reply to Pheonix-Down [2007-01-04 04:06:34 +0000 UTC]

glass etching? yes. I enjoy that too, except for the time that I did one, and my art teacher basically broke it.

ick

yeha i had my art teacher break one of my sculptures once, hid the fact that it was broken, then denied it. i was pissed.

i actually ment etching on zinc plates for printmaking but thats ok

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

m4g1c4lm3 In reply to Pheonix-Down [2007-01-07 00:11:52 +0000 UTC]

Nope, i've never did any etching on zinc plates. I would like to try other printmaking though. I may take the printmaking class next semester.

Yeah, my art teacher was pretty bad about stuff like that too. I remember last year we were making sketchbooks. We made the cover and backing, and she was going to drill the holes on the sides so we could put the rings through it. Well. She decided to drill the holes on the wrong side on my friend Katy's. She blamed katy for it. hahaha. But yeah, the glass etching. I bought a frame, and painted it with a patina finish. The glass that I was using..which was in the frame in the first place...didn't want to fit back into it. So my teacher and I were trying to cut some of the wood, carve some of it away to fit the glass in. She finally got the glass in, but I was still a little leary. Next day, I find that my 16"x20" glass etching had cracked right down the middle. Even though she felt bad, I think she still blamed me for it.

Highschool art teachers hardly have a clue. College is so much better!

oh i concur, my art teacher was good in highschool but hardly treated us like adults...well hardly treated us like anything other than little children, so it was hard to deal with her at times.

i love my art teachers in university are wonderful, they just really know what they are talking about and are there to help anyway they can. cept my drawing teacher. shes a nut.

hahha, yeah, you do still get a few nuts in the bunch even at College. Mr. Butcher..my soon to be Painting and Drawing 2 teacher, is the most amazing teacher I've ever had. He seriously, knows everything, and is such a good teacher. I actually go back to school tomorrow, after a very long break for the Holidays, you know the time inbetween semesters.
