*Spoilers*
but if you have been following the Naruto Manga, then you will understand, and you will get very emotional, and you will be on the verge of tears when you find out that Itachi Uchiha was really, in all sense of the word, a hero.
I'm really looking forward to the next chapters, I think there will be an entire arc about him and Madera.
I always knew there was something not right about his crazy death and about he always gave vague answers to his little brother. I can sort of relate being the oldest of 3 sisters. Us older sibs always have our own special brand of protection and care and love for our younger sibs that our parents can never provide.

Yup being the oldest of all my siblings I am very protective of them. I would do anything for them. That's probably why I like Itachi so much.

OMG! i am seriously dying to know the real reason why itachi did what he did. i know that he was trying to protect sasuke but i don't know why. can anyone tell me????

He was trying to protect his brother from getting killed by konoha. Itachi killed the uchiha clan on konoha's orders but couldn't kill his brother because he loved him so in retribution for not following orders, he was sent away and he made sasuke hate him because itachi knew that he would have to die, but only at his brother's hands.....it's all very complicated but you pick up all the nuances as you read the manga.

uhmmm....i'm glad you feel so strongly, but plz don't take your anger out here.
and i don't think Kakashi will die yet because he can't die behind Naruto's back, that's just wrong. too much angst for the storyline if he does; from a writer's perspective, I think that would make the main character's personality change too much and the story would fall apart.

I've read the most resent chapters now, and what really gets to me is the line

I'm really starting to hate it whenever an character in a story dies
The most recent one I'm reading also had a death in it and now I'm on the verge of going insane, trying to find out what happens next. It's just ....really really sad

I believe it's not the real Sasuke that's going psycho. To me, the real Sasuke died when the rest of his family did and the version we have now is just an empty shell wanting violence.

Well that is one way to put it, but I refute your theory. Sasuke couldn't have been an empty shell after his family died because he still befriended Naruto enough to make him worthy of being killed for a higher sharingan. Unless, of course, by 'rest of his family' you mean to say that when Sasuke killed Itachi, he himself died into an empty shell.
But even then...didn't Sasuke get all emotional when thinking about how Juugo, Karin, and Suigetsu were sacrificing themselves to help him reach his goals? I mean, he got so emotional to the point of crossing the threshold and using the new Mangekyou to save them and himself.

I think I understand your points and I agree with them. I haven't even gotten past the rescue Gaara arc in my reading though. I guess Sasuke's just badly scarred then. And psycho.

You're further behind in your reading then the anime is. The anime has just reached the Hidan/Kakuzu arc.

You didn't spoil it for me. I've already been reading spoilers, so I knew that Itachi died. I actually sort of know up to the attack on Konoha. Though I'm not really sure what happened between Jiraiya-sama and Pein and Jiraiya-sama dying and then being resurrected?
Reading fanfiction has helped a lot.
The local bookstores are only up to volume 30.

Thank you for this. I haven't read the entire manga, just the last part with the last battle between the Uchiha brothers. Strangely enough I managed to predict what the truth was in the end, but still I was impressed by the depth of the characters and of Itachi. I love unexpected heroes like Itachi and I love the idea of him sacrificing himself and playing the villain to protect his younger brother. the truth was amazingly moving and really added depth to who he was. This tribute is well deserved. Take care.

You're welcome. I feel the same way. Itachi's entire story was just -wow-, his story is probably my favorite out of all manga characters and is comparable in all aspects to real literary figures. But I can't help but wonder if Kishimoto had Itachi's story all planned out from the very beginning or if he decided to change it for us fangirls who wanted the hot older brother to be good

Who knows what he intended, though I hope that he had always intended for Itachi to be who he was and that he wasn't influenced. I think Itachi is a much deeper and more impressive character as he is, the hero playing the villain to protect the one person he loves most. It is an extremely moving character development and a startling surprise which makes a person look at everything that has happened before in an entirely different light. 
Stories like Itachi's always make me want to go back to writing fanfiction but since I always end up creating AU worlds and cannot write a fanfic without adding my own characters anyway I(which I can never tell if they are Mary Sues or not anyway) I might as well look to a way to transform possible ideas into original writing anyway, heh. ^^ I never read the manga until I came across it online. Amazing that it happened right when that particular arc was being written. I was quite shocked when I made a guess about what was really going on and guessed right. It's happened before on occasion but still my reaction was something along the lines of: 
I hope that Kishimoto will go more into Itachi's POV before he ends the manga. I woudl like to see the story from his side of it. I don't even know how I came to like Itachi. I think I tend to like villains with redeeming characteristics, though what his were before I discovered what was really going on I'm not sure, heh. Either way he's one of my favourite anime characters now. Almost worth going out and buying the Anime though I've been resisting since I first started watching it.
Anyway, I've ranted way too long so I should let you go. I do like to chat/rant though so feel free to reply or to send me a private note. I enjoy a good talk. Take care.

I know what you mean about liking villains more
it's because if there's even the tiniest shred of goodness in their hearts :insert dramatic pose here:, then there's hope for some high end drama and emotional roller coasters, which is what I usually look for in a good story. Anyhow, I've sent you a note because I would like to chat later

I definitely prefer "grey" villains as opposed to black and white villains. I like it when authors or creators create villains with a backstory and a reason for being who and what they are rather than creating a villain that's just bad for the sake of being bad,
