My 2017 in art!
To be honest, I'm really glad that 2017 is almost over now. A lot of bad stuff happened to me this year and I'm ready to open another chapter in 2018.
I remember sitting in 2016 making my artgoals and on of them was to get better in digital art and doing backgrounds more. I think I achieved both!
Anyway here's my summary for 2017:
Januar:
My Januar-Artwork represents the level I was at. I used alot of glowing overlay layers to make things shiny. And I painted in way to many layers so I got confused all the time.
February:
I wanted to dive back into watercolors. So I made alot of sketches in February that I wanted to draw traditionally. I really like this one, because I put so much time into her concept and her story as well.
March:
This was my watercolor-month. I used to love watercolors before but kinda stopped using them when I started with digital art. So it was hell of interesting to dive back into it. I also watched alot of watercolor-tutorials at this time
April:
Back into digital art. But I had very little time every time so I couldn't do artworks that would require more than 4 hours of work. So I mostly did basic stuff. I really tried getting better but I had just about 2 hours everyday to draw and it made me sick.
May:
It was Mermay and I only managed to do 2 artworks for it, because I had so little time. I tried to get better with semirealistic stuff but struggled alot with it.
And also SOME FUCKING IDIOT STOLE MY WHOLE EQUIPMENT! I still haven't recovered fully yet as the computer I'm currently drawing on is a friends one.
June:
As I had no equipment I doodled alot. That's where I decided to line my sketches to practice lineart more.
July:
Still no equipment. Focusing more on sketches and doing lineart in my new small sketchbook. I remember missing digital art alot.
August:
I had a working tablet again!
Because I did so much lineart the previous two months I kinda redid some digital. I loved doing those tattoodesigns.
September:
The best thing 2017. 14 days in Japan circeling between Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. I had my sketchbook with me and doodled alot! This was the best. Just not thinking about my problems in germany and just giving myself to this amazing trip.
I learned so much, ate the most delicous streetfood ever and saw porn everywhere.

October:
Back doing digital art again. Trying to get back to the point before my stuff was stolen. I also experimented alot in ClipStudioPaint and made my artworks with different brushes.
November:
This piece was a breakthrough for me. It kinda felt like a level-up in digital art. I started making values first and doing the color on top of them. And it really payed off. From 2017 this is my favourite!
December:
I love the colors in this one!
(Also trying to make more backgrounds).
I'm not sure on where to progress right now. It's pretty easy doing super smooth skin with airbrushes but I also love the painterly look of not doing it. But my skills aren't progressed enough to make the painterly stuff look good.
