Description At first: Sorry for grammatical and spelling mistakes!

Here some reasons, why many fans of Hirano's works believe, that Hans GΓΌnsche from DesertSchutzstaffel (picture A1+B1) must be the Captain from Hellsing/ Millennium (picture A2+B2).

1. This two characters look very similar. Hans seems to be younger than Captain, but this doesn't matter. For example Integra Hellsing also looks in the first volume younger than in the last volumes.

2. They have the same rank and they use the same gun with a very long barrel, called "Meter Mauser" (?), see A1 and A2.

3. and the important information is: In DesertSchutzstaffel the enemy called Hans as "Malmedy's nightmare" (B1, the red mark) and in B2 we see the title of chapter 82 (Hellsing) with the Captain and the word "Malmedy" (the red mark).

"Malmedy" means the Malmedy massacre in 17. December 1944 during the second World War, where the 1. SS- Panzerdivision executed American prisoners of war.

But after an evidence by SolidusTF I must also say, that they're not the one and same character. There are some reason for it. For example Hans can speak and Captain isn't
able.

I have done it for the Hellsing-fans, which don't knowing , why the Captain is called Hans GΓΌnsche.

Thanks for your attention and comment please!

What is interesting, in B1 they mention 12. SS-Panzer-Division Hitlerjugend, while division stationed in Malmedy region was 1.SS Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler. According to photo B2, Captain was a member of Kampfgruppe Peiper, te battle group charged for this so called "Malmedy massacre".

Keine Ahnung

Yepp I'm still a bit confused about that, but maybe a possible explanation would be that Hans was sent into different divisions during the ww2. I mean he was also a member of the Storm Regiment (I think they meant the SA) and that group has still existed during the war, even though they were annihilated after the "RΓΆhm-Putsch".

You are right. Hans looks a bit younger than the Captain. But they have still too many similaries.

And Hans's face is a lot thinner too I think.

Yes that's true, too, but I have also to say that Hans face is changing many times during the little story.

Ya do realise that there's no connection between these two series. Because not only did Hirano state that these old hentain mangas have no connection to the real Hellsing story, he also stated that these characters are beta models for the characters he drew then. The reason I say that, is because there are two mangas witch featrue different version of Major, one being a skinny version and the other who looks like Luke Valentain version (read: the manga is called Angesl Dust, witch shows a beta version of Anderson as well.). Also while it's true that they mention the Malmedy massacre in both the hentain manga and the cover of the official manga. We see that in the cover Captain is wearing an SS paratroopers uniform, while in the hentain manga he wears a simple low class officers uniform. I doubt they would throw him so fast across ranks, yet alone demote him. Finally the reason for Captain being mute, there are several theories but here's mine: I think the reason for that is 'cause Captain follows the path of a 'good' soldier. Meaning he only speaks when allowed to by a high ranking commander (read: Major for example), and he follows orders without question. Many belive it's because of the throat injury that he aquired durin' the battle in Dawn, but I think that's impossible, sinse even before Walters strings slashed his throat, Captain was still mute. Not to mention, Captain is a werewolf and looking at his powers (regenarting lost limbs, clothes, becoming a 2foot wolf, ability to turn into mist), he seems a fairly old werewolf. So such stuff is throat injury's is a meere scratch for him.

You are right.
But I thought, I had found a good explanation, why many fans believe, that Millennnium's Captain would be Hans GΓΌnsche. My bad. I will change the description at the weekend.

I didn't know, that Captain had a throat injury. But I also didn't read "The Dawn" yet, because it's hard to find the manga in Germany.

And thank you for your information and for posting the first comment on my gallery!
