This would be a great twist. People are rooting for Elsa to be the first gay/LGBT Disney "princess", but it could just as easily be someone else from a 2010s Disney flick. Heck, we already had LGBT representation in Frozen with the trader Oaken and his family in the sauna.

It's just that it would have been SOOOOO funny. In a really dark and twisted way. But then my sense of humor can get pretty dark and twisted at times.
And it wouldn't have completely sabotaged the character the way the actual ending did.
