Even though Water-type Pokemon have always been my favorite type to start off with in every game, Froakie is the only one that I never bothered using when playing X or Y for some reason.

Can't blame, personal prefferences, Me for example, I think the only starter I haven't liked is Litten... I kinda like Incineroar, but still, it doesn't get my attention. I'm also a water guy.
For the Kalos starters fully evolved I just prefered Greninja of the three, but it wasn't that special for me at the start, but then comes Smash Bros, and he became not just my starter, but also one of my mains, I love his speed and moveset in Smash, especially those water blades.

Another reason that I've never bothered to start off with Froakie is after learning that you also receive one of the three original starter Pokémon that appeared in Red and Blue Versions from Professor Sycamore, and I always chose Squirtle because of it being my favorite starter Pokémon, especially when it evolves into Wartortle and then into Blastoise.

Yeah, the inclusion of such a feature in the game was kind of a surprise for me, and I actually decided to choose Chespin as my starter after discovering it for myself, especially after being able to get Torchick as a free gift for pre-ordering my copy of "Pokémon: Y" when the game was released.
