omg I know right. It's just like
Tosh and Owen die - sad for a few minutes, no one gives a shit next episode
Ianto dies - like one mention of him in all of season four and Jack is all happy and shit throughout the season wtf
this is one of those times where I'm not proud to be an American.

EXACTLY!!! It's like the only people that remembered that all these characters die are the fangirls. Even Gwen, the 'carer' forgot about everyone!

My sister and I started watching Miracle Day (after a LONG mourning period) and we only go 15 minutes into it when we turned it off. We hated it! The characters were messed up, everyone was friggen American (no offence to Americans but I like the British/Welsh accents) and Jack got over Ianto really fast! It's like they didn't even have a romance!1

then they fucked it up. because, and I speak as a life-long Californian, Americans fail to do justice to British stuff 99% of the time. Torchwood was too great under BBC Cymru for the Starz version to be anything but shit.

I can't bring myself to watch it. I can't tell whether or not I'm disappointed that it's supposedly good; I probably wouldn't resent it as much if it were bad. From what I've heard of Miracle Day, it's not my cup of tea, but I don't mind if other people like it (well...that is to say I respect if people like it, but I still get really upset).

You SHOULD watch it! I JUST FINISHED WATCHING IT TODAY and I have to say it is AWSOME! They keep you guessing until the very end (and after too), they throw in this twists and turns that are completely unexpected, and a whole bunch of amazing people are introduced! Some make it, others don't; Some you fall in love with, others you love to hate. But they're all well written and amazing! Plus, the problems that those in the medical community have to face are very realistic and yet surpriseing because the average non-medical-smart person wouldn't have thought about them or their consequences (like the fact that since people who should be dying of infection aren't and are being given antibotics to ease their suffering are now literaly breeding grounds for antibotic-resistent bacteria due to the repeative treatments).
From one Torchwood lover/fan to another, I STRONGLY SUGGEST to see Miracle Day. It takes the 1st episode and some of the 2nd to get going, but it is SO WORTH IT.

Thanks so much for your comment! Truthfully I've been avoiding Miracle Day out of the still-lingering spite/sadness I hold for Series 3 (and the irrational fear that I might actually like Miracle Day). I don't know why the idea of it bothers me so much; I guess I'm just a bit annoyed that it's more Americanized(seriously, I loved the who-would-ever-set-a-show-in-Cardiff feeling). But I did want to hear about it from the point of view of someone who liked it, and the way you described it makes it sound appealing.
I haven't been able to make a pre-viewing judgement from other's opinions alone, since the responses are so varied("it's great" or "it sucked" or "I wished so-and-so was in it but otherwise it was okay" or "it was boring" or "I couldn't stop watching", etc)
I would like to know what happens at the very end, just so I'm prepared. Not all the twists given away, but just what happens to Jack and stuff.

Though it's sad for him.

I miss the Welsh series. All the aliens, and shagging, and jokes. ( But mostly the shagging. Hey fangirls have perverted fangirl needs. )
I gotta admit. Miracle Day was a very nice story.

I really WANT to be glad that the show continues the way it does, but part of me refuses to accept it. It's kind of hard to explain. Did you watch Miracle Day through to the end? I'd like to know what happens (without watching it myself, I fear my heart might break again from resentment and nostalgia).

It is hard to explain what happens because there's a twist that will make you go vulgar. I got to admit, I was wary when it started, not to mention they played the old music. Of course I'm not as fond as I am of the old series but hey, they're just pulling a Doctor Who on us.

It's awesome, isn't it? Definitely watch it when you get the chance!(If you've seen my gallery, you'd know that if you get addicted, you get REALLY addicted).
Series 2 is my favorite; Series 3 is brilliant but will ruin your emotional sanity; it seems you know that. Series 4...is not like the others, so if you like them, I don't suggest it.

I am American, and I feel I should apologize for the new series. I'm not a fan. I've given up watching in fact. Not the first time that America has ruined the Who universe (Eight Doctor movie - I'm looking @ you...)
If I wanted to watch bad American television, I would. But I want good British TV! And I want Ianto back!

I know. I want to be proud of showing off about liking Torchwood(like I am with Doctor Who), but people in America who only know about series 4 might go "you're into...THAT show? Don't you only like British stuff?" And I might add miserably, "well, I liked it when it WAS British."
I'd rather the show have just ended in it's prime, so what happens next could be left up to the imagination of the viewers.
