They found the body a day too late.
Lying curled on the cold tiles of an unlocked room
Her body was as icy,clawed to the bone in a pool of blood & ripped hair.
The remaining tufts of chocolate strands on her scalp
Fell gently across her face,
Her final sense of modesty veiling her bruised skin.
Thin,wasted limbs were pulled close,she like a newborn in the passage
To oblivion.
Was she afraid as she held herself for comfort? Alone as she
Murmured herself to eternal dreams?
For no one came to hold her,
No one came to take the knife gently from the shaking fingers.
She fell into Death's grip instead when no one would dry her tears.
When no one would warm her numbed soul or hold her tight as she cried,
At least The Reaper would welcome her in an unrelenting embrace.

When you're alone & no one can feel your horror,
Nor hear your screams,
Will Silence be able to free you?
