Iz a kyoot lil chibi tailboy! Yeees you are! Yeeeeees you are!*cough* Heh, anyway. More Wren stuffs. If you've been to my site and voted for my comic (I love you!) you've seen this pic, though I have changed it a bit here. The original had a fat head. I have this problem with giving him a fat head. Fat-headitis? Eh, well, I don't do chibis much, but if I do more, it'll definitely be in this style.

That's cool! Actually, paranormal romance is just a pet term used by the publishing company Tor.^^ I was told once that it's better to try and categorize one's story as broadly as possible, like simply "fantasy" or whatever. But I don't know. Tor will definitely like it though! Ooh, tragic you say?

Yes. T_T I'll have killed two of my favorite characters by the end, including the male lead, and will have killed 5 or 6 other random people as well. (One of them's actually a persona created by my neighbor across the hall. She decided that she wanted to die in my story as an old lady named Margot.

Ooh, nice death toll you have going there. That's a great way to bring the gravity of the situation home to the readers. Especially nowadays, when MARVEL and DC has poisoned us with characters constantly sortof dying then coming back to life, over and over.

Well, on the NaNo forums, killing characters is considered the best plot device for boosting your wordcount.
But yeah, considering that at the climax I kill my second favorite character, it even brings it home to me. I really, truly don't want to kill him, but it's really the best ending. It makes the most sense with the rest of the story. T_T

In some cases, yes, a near death can be nearly as dramatic. But this is the end. And also, he dies to save the MC...so letting him live diminishes his sacrifice, and therefore the impact of their relationship etc. I've thought about this a lot (looking for a loophole! *laughs*), and really, when I do save him, it feels flat somehow. But if I kill him, I'm devastated. And if I kill her instead, the whole thing's screwed up.
I'm glad you get it, though! Some people are killing characters left and right, others aren't killing anyone; some don't even know if characters will die or not at this point. And many of the NaNo-ers are improvising as they go, so they're not as attatched to their characters as I am to this guy. Or you to some of yours, I presume.

Yeah, I know how that goes. There are certain aweful things that happen in my story, things that I HATE, but without them the story hits a brick wall. So weird how these things just write themselves, without our approval half the time.^^ Ah, but that's the sign of good writers, and a good concept, if it just goes without you. What is this NaNo thing you mention?

Interesting you should bring up NaNo in the same post as self-written stories. NaNo is an abreviation of NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month. During the month of November, a bunch of crazy people worldwide attempt to each write a 50,000 word novel in a single month. Many people come in with no plot whatsoever, and it writes itself in the craziest ways. ^_^ Even I, who came in with the core plot points already worked out, am having strange things happen. 2 pages of exposition in the old crap version became 20 in the new one; my villain decided he was a slow eater and my protagonist finally told me she hates peanut butter. And my fantasy world is finally developing an economy, a government, and a culture by itself. It's crazy! But I love it. ^_^
