I think the glass dome adds to it. Without the glass dome, you wouldn't have the reflections
and I think they add extra interest to the scene

That's coz' I render faster than you can write!
The reflections came out of necessity rather than choice - I just couldn't find a pleasing angle without them. Plus as a connoisseur of reflective surfaces you will undoubtedly notice that I've limited them to just 3 bounces, otherwise they would have gone on to infinity, which, I'm led to believe, is substantially more than 3 (probably in the region of 100 or more)

As I mentioned way down the page this one took 52 minutes to render and I still don't know why it was so fast...There was a storm that night so perhaps the electricity was turbocharged

Well - considering how long I've been "working" on my screenplay, I'd guess that's probably true.   I get you could have done 4 bounces - that probably only would'a got to about 1/2 infinity.

...I call it "cheating", I just gave up trying to find an impossible camera angle so the glass dome was a last resort.
(The top left reflection of the black queen is the best... You can see down her top ... Thankfully there's still some traces of adolescent schoolboy remaining.)

Now I do believe it's     time

Oh yes…. and I resisted in asking the Queen to provide a corset of lessons on how to play chest.  I think I've grown

I'm working tonight at the arcade (leaving in a few moments in fact, so I'll miss it tonight, but I bought the season pass on iTunes.  I'll download it overnight.  We're celebrating a friend's birthday tomorrow and that's part of it. All gathering around to watch it then

 Hello grant, this is Dog speaking...Pete read all the praise you gave him and his head swelled up so much it exploded  .  
Fortunately I'm a trained neurosurgeon so I'll probably be able to reassemble it. You'll have to stop praising him so much, he's beginning to believe it and I know that all that he's relatively good at is throwing sticks

between us...I worked in graphic design and visual communications production for a large part of my career. TPOT(that Pete over there) creates stunning fine art. The caliber that shows in art galleries, and on book and music CD covers, and in print advertising. You should get him to submit some of his best works to different venues.  Think of all the sticks you could buy. You can also get your very luxury dog stick throwing park, with a pond, and three hydrants. (no waiting)  CAT chases could start every fifteen minutes.

Well I guess you have go back to reassembling PWTS (Pete who throws sticks). Good luck with that endeavor.

I should hope so too, it took almost 52 minutes to render! FIFTY TWO MINUTES that's like more than an hour, init?

Actually I was pleasantly surprised that it rendered so quickly, then again I did limit reflections to just 3 bounces, plus I was going to make it a lot more interesting (necklaces, rings, buttons, candles, etc.) but my daughter said "Why bother? It's too small for details"  ... Kings merely obey!
