          Harry was exhausted. He trudged into his apartment and nearly collapsed on his couch. After working overtime every day this week, there was only one place to turn to bring him a little bit of joy. He grabbed his Switch out of the dock and loaded up the new Fire Emblem game. As he started up the game, he noticed a new option in the main menu, labeled “New Game ++”

            “That’s funny,” he thought. “I didn’t see any update notification at all. I guess I really am that tired huh.” Curious, he selected New Game ++ and got a pop-up window heralding a “brand-new immersive experience unlike any you’ve ever seen.” It went to explain how to change any existing save file into a New Game ++ file, but not what new features the mode actually had. “A big promise to make,” he sighed. “Sounds pretty vague, but why not.”

            He followed the instructions to change his save, but when he pressed “Yes,” a blinding white light shot out of the screen. He shielded his eyes for a few seconds, and when the light finally subsided, Harry was in an alien yet familiar environment. He had been sitting just seconds ago, but now he was standing at the entrance to a giant castle. He blinked a couple of times and began to look around. He spotted a friendly looking young man wearing armor.

            “Greetings professor! Nothing to report!” The friendly greeting of the gatekeeper soothed Harry’s confusion and apprehension and replaced it with energy and wonder. He was in the game! He was the professor! He had to take a look around and find some of his favorite characters.

            Harry excitedly moved about the monastery, greeting all the characters he recognized. But as he finished exploring, he realized that he couldn’t find one of his favorites. He had checked the marketplace outside the gates, the dining hall, and the Golden Deer classroom. Where could she be? He didn’t think she spent a lot of time upstairs, but that was the only place he hadn’t checked.

            As he made his way through the crowded halls towards the staircase, the greeting choruses of “Hey professor” and “Professor!” changed to simply “Hey!” and “Hi!” Harry didn’t notice, as he was a bit preoccupied. The way he was walking was different in a way he couldn’t quite describe. Were his hips swaying? Didn’t it take him less time to walk this distance? And was everybody this tall before? It’s probably just his tiredness from before coming back to him, once he got to the library he’d take a break.

            Harry walked through the upstairs hallway past the professor’s quarters and heard another greeting. “Hey Hilda!” Ignatz passed him heading down the staircase. Harry automatically replied “Hey Ignatz!” and hurried down the corridor. He was feeling a heavy weight in his chest and butt and needed to sit down. Maybe Manuela was in there and could see what was wrong. Maybe he could use this to get out of his daily chores. He entered the library and took a seat at the first available table. There was a large stack of unorganized books in front of him. Maybe reading one of these books would take his mind off the cold draft he felt between his legs and the long, pink hair tugging either side of his head. He opened the book and instantly closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep…

            Hilda opened her eyes and sighed. “I can’t believe I have library organizing duty today. Why do we even have all these books? It just never ends…” She then spotted the heir to House Aegir, the perfect man to manipul-help her out.

    “Oh Ferdinand! I have a tiny favor to ask.”
