I like and dislike the pose at the same time ; it's very original and she looks so sweet in slumber, yet you can't really tell whether she's standing or lying down.

I love the background and textures - they're awesome

madnessism In reply to sundayx [2006-05-27 23:23:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

She's supposed to be standing up, but sort of floating. I was trying to recreate the feeling of un-reality Bouguereau accomplished with many of his models' poses. (You can see what I mean here: [link] )

I may edit out part of the cloth to make it look like she's lying down less in the future.

this is a very captivating piece. i especially like the soft tones. everything about the piece is ethereal and peaceful, as if it has its own world of bliss and agony... pistache always induced such feelings in me.

I looked at it a bit before checking its catagory. I decided if I had to place it, it would be sureal, I was glad to see this is what it was. There is a definite up-flow with the drapery and the sea spray. The sea spray also adds to the title you have given it, and its pretty well rounded. She does seem a bit frontal though, I am guessing she was laying down on something and thats why the drappery looks like it does. I'm not sure if you can do it, but you might want to edit the stuff a bit more if you could layer it behind her to make it look more dimensional. All though the frontal nature does make it seem more sureal. Your call I suppose. Also, it's not trendy or overdone, making it seem like something unique, which is nice. Not something I would hang on my wall, but I could see other doing so.

madnessism In reply to object2bdestroyd [2006-03-22 21:19:09 +0000 UTC]

I thought surreal would be appropriate, as she isn't really standing and the cloth isn't following any sort of real physics. She was lying down, as was the model (obviously) in the painting which inspired this piece. I'm glad you find it unique. I try not to do what everyone else is. Thank you for the critique!

I love it, it's a great combo of pics, and styling, I love the grain and the muted colors. I agree with someone in the seniors chat, the womans pose doesn't seem to fit the background, although they are both very lovely

i love the muted earthy colours chosen. the sense of the waves' motion is contrasted by her peaceful stance, creating a highly emotive effect.
