Description
This sword is based on Boromir's sword from the Lord of the Rings with almost the same dimensions. It is made of pine, which makes it very light and weak, but it was needed to get it to authentic sword thickness. The fuller is quite rough since the wood is so thin and I was just learning how to make them at this time. The handle is wrapped in fake leather. The sheath is quite large compared to the sword.... very thick and heavy (and the first and only wooden sheath I've ever made to date). It has cloth on the inside to make the sword slide smoothly. The outside is engraved and painted, with a raised decoration glued on the outside. The case for the sword is made of oak with a velvet covered foam form so the sword can lay in it snugly. The outside is stained, engraved, and painted. I also engraved a piece of quartz and inset it into the lid. Sword, sheath, and case took me a long time, but was one of the most enjoyable sword projects I've done yet.
