lol - repspectialness were it it due my friend. I've heard that often - "don't call me sir - I work for a living". It's strange though, in the States where class distinctions split along wealth and race not ancient bloodlines. Sir functions more like "mate" does in say Australia at least along the tradesman ilk i mix with. if i'm doing manual labor with my friends and equals - it's always "yes sir" or "hear you go sir". Sir never gets used towards the boss man. Almost a perfect reversal of the common meaning.

Aussie - no just a Irish/German american mutt -lol. I wish there wasn't class war over here but sometimes in the old south (i'm in Virginia) it's like the plantation system never ended.
