HOly crap, that's She-ra and her secret identity Adora!! Nice frikin job man!! That was one helluva show, and I loved when her invincible brother would come and visit on that show and show Hordak something to be afraid about, lol!
I really love this treatment by your artwork on this wonderful superheroine, and it especially works on Adora. She Ra was basically a combination of WonderWoman and Supergirl, and even Power girl. Like WonderWoman she had a head crown piece, and like Wondy they'd use a lasso alot (esp Wondy), but most of all both wondy and shera's personalities were the same; very noble, graceful, and kind yet courageous and strong (He-man was like a hercules version of Superman). Then she was like Supergirl because she was the female relative of the male superhero who was more popular and even a long lost relative re-discovered, not to mention being blond with a skirt and boots and a flapping red cap.
Anyways, thanks for posting this awesomeness. GReat pic for a subject to draw!!

Oh, hell yeah. SheRa was the inspiration for Sailor Moon, as is 90% of all Anime. Anime is a direct extension of comic books. It's like Marvel and DC comics; No DC then no Marvel. No Comic Books, NO ANIME. Thus DC is the father of it all starting with the flagship character Superman. The pioneering of Superman started it all.

not completely. true possibly story based, but alot of Japanese anime is based off of Disney animation in the aspect of character praportions.
the style they used in classic films such as; Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and the Little Mermaid. that's where they got the idea of having unnaturally large eyes for easier facial expression, from the Disney Princesses, Airel being the prime example of this.
if you compare modern anime films to that of Disney Animated films you will notice a lot of similarities.

"alot of anime is based off of Disney animation in the aspect of character proportions" Sorry that's not exactly right. Anime is a very broad range from Totoro to Naruto.
So if all you're looking at is some of the more toony stuff like Totoro is and Pokeman is then you're not seeing all of anime. When looking at all of Anime, THEE most historical marks of it's industry and THEE most popular animes are Action type genres and basically super HEROEs.
So with these kinds being that successful majority the art is actually more realistic (just like a comic book) in the entire anatomy of the body. It is only the Eyes that they tend to exagerate.
It would be fool hardy to say that Comic books are not the most heaviest influence on Anime. Of course the King Kong movie, as I mentioned, influenced them for Godzilla movies, and yes of course Disney would naturally influence them as well (which I also already mentioned) as well as that Adam West Tv show did. So America in general has influence the Japanese greatly, but to speak specificly of Anime you are looking at 60-90% comic books.
Action superheroes vs. evil villains.

Gl find somebody else who understands that... there were these girls at my school who thought Anime ws an animation category of its own, and that Anime is not a form of cartoon... FOOLS!

Silly girls. In a sense I would say that: to be fair Anime does stand with an obvious style that is uniquely distinguished, basicallly you can automatically tell it's Japanese once you see it. So technically, they DO own a category.
However the entire foundation of Anime stands on American Comic books; that big bad super hero world. Hawkman, Batman, and especially the Hulk, etc. You can interview one dozen professional Japanese animators and they would happily admit that they are constatnly inspired by American comic books and even american cartoons.
The reason for that is America, to the world, is not just a leader in industry but in culture as well. The Japanese aren't ashamed to wholey admit they are imensely fascinated by the american culture; just look at Asia when they're wearing suits with colors and ties..that's western. Most of clothes fashion by America is what Japanese are in love with.
When we made King Kong the movie (the original) they were so inspired and thus Godzilla flicks were born as was a dozen other giant monster movies. When we animated Mickey Mouse for the 1st time, they started drawing toony with Astro Boy, etc. When we started making characters with super abilities and flamboyant costumes of color, they followed suite in spades.
All of Anime is a great compliment to the U.S., as imitation is the highest form of flattery. One thing though; White guys invented Basket Ball, but Black guys showed them how to play it right. The Character "Kato" of GreenHornet was originally Japanese but it was a Chinese guy that showed you how to play him, and instead of Karate that Chinese guy showed you it was Gung Fu that was the better way to go. So in that same function; America invented cartoons and of course comic books, but there are many times where the Japanese are showing us how to animate excellent action scenes.
I think the U.S. are pioneers and can always think of original ideas that are classic, but the Japanese know how to execute better the animating process many times (dont forget though Disney kicks ass in that department as well, LittleMermaid,Bambi,SnowWhite, etc).
Okay, done ranting

Very well-put, aree entireth your statements. Americans invnted the cartoo, but th japanese were inspired by it and added their own tweak to the old; they're very good at that, it would seem.
Of course, I want to go to schoo to be an animator... Disey FTW!
