Description Photoshop, you are not my friend. This is the first time I've used it in about a year and it's still not as intuitive (to me, anyway) as Painter. The brushes are pretty difficult for me. They do things in ways I don't expect, really. I think it would take some getting used to. But there's that soft pearly-smooth finish typical of PS. Pretty though.

Would you like the birds? birds__photoshop_brushes_by_candymax_stock.

Sherlock makes such noise sometimes! I'm not an angel. I'm not a hero. Well, no one is. But sometimes people can come pretty close.

Mostly trying to tool around with Photoshop. It is so not my bag though. There are some artists I admire who are brilliant with it though! I've got a looong way to go! I hope you're well! We're almost to the weekend. MAN, I could use a break!

aww nice coat !! like the hair, too

well maybe, if you say so about Photoshop, I should try Painter... because I can't figure how to paint properly with Photoshop and I have been using only this for, like, 3 years ...
But you're doing pretty well, I'd say ^^

Lol! So, Pikku-Piru, I was going to say that you mustn't blame PS for my lack of ability to use it properly, but I think we're about in the same boat. I've had PS for almost a year now. I can do many things with it, but I find (and I know this is sacrilege to many) that PS doesn't focus on many kinds of medium. Some people are amazing with it, of course! This may just be me being bad with PS, but getting CP has been so worth it to me!

Thanks for dropping in, and if you do pick up CP, let me know if you have any problems! Teaque has it too, btw! And so does AmandaTolleson! You're in good company.

London is nice- it's very busy though and there are loads of tourists evrywhere and long queues for everything.

Berlin is very cold during the winter.

Rome and Paris were both amazing places to live and just to see all the sites, but I'd say Rome is better but that's probably cos I can't speak French.

MagicBunni In reply to berlin-and-london [2012-03-05 06:35:04 +0000 UTC]

I don't speak much French either. It's horrifying how garbled it is. I have a good pal here, Caroline, from France. She regularly laughs at my horrible French. She's so sweet and a great Sherlock artist too ([link] ). I know *zero* Italian.

I'm used to the cold, but have had more than enough of it!

I like crowds and busy cities (New York City is my favourite) so London sounds cool to me! Thanks Berlin & London.

Hi Authoress-chan! I hope you're not really jealous and I send you --> . I did this one quickly, but there's not a lot to it, really. I do like the sky and birds. Really, the focus point was his coat and (lol!) whether I could paint it all right. And the curls, which are starting to get lit up by sunset.

Yes! But we're all noisy at times so... hugs to his cute leggy self.

Haha, I am jealous, but not in the "I hate you so much I'm going to hunt you down and stab you to death with a spork then cut off your head and eat your brains with said spork so I can gain your art powers and be a BAMF like Sylar" way. More in the "I want to improve" way. (I hope I didn't scar/disturb you with that imagery XD).

I love his curls, especially how you do them. They're always a pain for me, so I love it when someone else can do them right! ;D

Haha, hugs indeed. XP

Good grief, did you just say that? I think you did. They're both very good in spite of how I use them, more like! But I must say I'm better at CP. Just lots of practice.

If you know of a good tutorial of painting in PS, do let me know!

I read the first line of this comment and immediatly thought "oh gosh, what did I say this time!?" lol.

I say, you must get lots of practice~! All of these pictures you do. I think it's really cool that you do that.

I miss Painter... Better yet, I miss having a tablet... It's so much harder with a touch pad!

LOL! Ha! I made you think you got in trouble or something? Omg! That's priceless. I'm actually pretty easygoing, so that would be strange. I do get a lot of practice now. I didn't draw for years. Not even doodles. That was a very suck time. So to my eye, my stuff is horribly rusty. I so hope you wrangle yourself a tablet again somehow! It's -- for me -- a life-changer. I was really meant to draw this way, which I knew since Uni, but I couldn't afford to do.... I'm very lucky now.

I'd debate you on that, Caroline. I really would. There's some corner your work can turn and go right out of fascinating and exact and almost hit on macabre in its detail. It's just freaky at that point. Sucks me in every time.

MagicBunni In reply to Bilou020285 [2012-02-29 08:05:58 +0000 UTC]

I think it's cool. I don't see it as negative at all, just intense and moody. Sometimes it pushes past that and I'm usually sort of fascinated and staring then because it's like it's on a knife-blade between amazing and disturbing. I really have a hard time putting it in words. It packs a punch. That would probably say it best. Whatever you mean to cause, there's the person looking. They see what they see. There's nothing you can do about that, so no worries! And don't look at me, I love your stuff! Amanda is another one who messes with dark shadow a lot, and her work also has a lot of intensity and mood. She's really good, for instance, filling her paintings with things like ennui, curiosity, self indulgence, and anxiety.

You mean Amanda Tolleson ? I'm a big fan of her work ! It's fantastic, I love their portraits, the lighting is simply amazing... And about feeling that my portrait cause, you're right, each person have their own perseption, it's part of the game... And the reason why I choose to share my work is to haave the opportunity to talk about that with other sensibilities... I don't know if it's clear...

MagicBunni In reply to Bilou020285 [2012-02-29 15:12:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeps! That's the Amanda I mean whenever I say 'Amanda'. I'm crazy-inspired by her talent, it's pretty well known. She's a master, it's clear -- she should be doing movie posters! I like how you put it, btw 'It's part of the game'. So true! It's a good thing, I think to share your work. The edges are so sharp. Your style is so different than mine (which is really diffuse as you can see). Yours can look almost hyper-lit-up. Lol! Mine is much more blurred. Oh, and I think it's clear that you're interested in how people look at your art. I sure am. People are amazing sometimes!

Drawing's not so bad for me, but the whole experience of painting is lost on me. Then I look at people like Nero749, and I'm in shock at her abilities. Certainly, it works for many! But Painter works for me. (And I like how it emulates real-life surfaces and different media behaviour.) Do you use Corel Painter, or something else?

Go, Sherlock artists!

MagicBunni In reply to mazijentes [2012-02-29 07:29:37 +0000 UTC]

It's not hard. It's really not. If you're going to draw on a Wacom tablet, things to remember are, use a relatively large canvas (say 1000x1000) for less grainy lines; make sure the pencil isn't too fine, remember you can load the eraser on the back of a Wacom pen! (And you can set the opacity, I think ... trying to remember how Elements works... but if you can set the opacity of the eraser, you can lighten your lines with an eraser). That stuff, and layers, help me out a lot!

I can't recall if you said you were using a Wacom though. Sorry!

Oh! Best tip! If you have an autosave, use it! XD Don't be silly, like me!
