The Avengers have a lot of blonde, blue eyed white dudes. Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, Hank Pym, Quasar, Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell), Iron Fist, Captain Britain, Scott Lang...(Did Quasar and Captain Marvel belong to the Avengers? I know they worked with them.)
The new team, Uncanny Avengers, is about half blue eyed blonde dudes. It's a little creepy.
All characters belong to Marvel.

Quasar joined the Avengers oficially when they had Hydrobase, at the end of the 80s.
When he is on space he is still recognized as an Avenger, even if he is not on the Earth team.
You can see him treated as a newbie Avenger during Acts of Vengeance (that's where I met him a long time ago), even if he had already been head of security at Project Pegasus and had some adventures of his own. Still, newbie or not, Captain America trusted him, so I guess his worthiness was showing even then.

For the record, I don't like Beast. Long winded, preachy and especially recently, self righteous.
Storm would have been a great fit except I heard she was off limits because she was going to be in X-Force and X-Men.
Personally I would have liked to see Armor become an Avenger.

Not sure about Quasar. I'm getting old and my memory is shot. I want to say "ooh, he was in New Warriors!" but I can't even remember that far back, either.

Gonna have to love the irony of them all taking on Red Skull in the first arc. Truthfully I don't mind Havok being in there (though I suspect in the wake of X-Men First Class they've been looking for a way to promote the character more) - I'd just rather they had another mutant than Wolverine and replace Thor with another Avenger. Beast not being in there is crazy, though Storm I can kind of understand in the wake of the Black Panther breakup.
