How did you create this blend?

I used GIMP to manipulate it. I layered the two similar classic DVD covers on top of each other, by having the top layer at 50 or 60 opacity. I adjusted the layers until they roughly lined up, then the top layer was given a gaussian blur a couple of times to give it a "spacial frequency" type of illusion. The final effect is quite mesmerising.

What's GIMP like? Do you have to pay for it? If so, then is it expensive?

It's totally free. Here is a link, www.gimp.org.
It does about 90% of what Photo-Shop can do, and it does have a different lay-out (I know, because I had to use PS on a course), but you can still do some incredible stuff. I still don't know how to use 3/4 of the tool, and I've been using it for about a decade.

It was a real challenge to develop this. If you've seen both 20th SE covers, they look almost identical, but hardly anything actually lined up when they were placed together. So I concentrated on lining up Optimus to Rodimus. It seems to work.
