Cry me a river...Thanks to for the "Beta View" The right side or her left side might still be off, but i don't know...
I based the design on
1. Helmet design.
- The profile follows the shape of the helmet making the forehead and nose go in one, the nose goes in before the mouth like with us, but the mandibles makes the shape follow the helmet.
- The metal plating on the side looked like mandibles in a way.
2. Turian guy who had the hots for this quarian at a club, and the fact that they can eat the same type of food made me thing there are similarities between the two... (considering this from a writer/story perspective as i for one see no reason why "we" can't eat the same food in reality)
(As in the shape of the forehead, skin color, mandibles, stuff sticking out from their head.)
3. They are supposed to have lips, and their eyes shine, and are also supposed to have ears different from ours so thats added.
4. Now you can cry me a river.

The reason they can eat the same food as turians is because they share a dextro-amino acid protein structure. But yeah, I like this way better than EA's goofy stock photo girl quarians.

I'm not so sure:
The head is out of proportion, the face is a bit too round, I would expect her to have a longer nose and deeper eye-sockets, Turians and Quarians both eating dextro-amino foods doesn't necessitate further similarities, and I'm also not sure where you got the idea for the appendages on the back of the head.
However, if (God help me) I didn't know what Mass Effect was, I would see that the drawing itself is very well done.

The face ain't round, though wide up by her eyes. Though yeah it is big.
Now their nose ain't straight, but as i believe i've added further below i thought what little we saw behind that mask was more or less "placeholder", so whatever one would imagine it to be based on that i didn't care for.
In real life it wouldn't make a difference if they both ate dextro-amino foods, but story wise, game wise it can. (I mean, they make the food out to be dangerous for humans...) Besides as i also mentioned turians tend to like qunaris, so the food part wasn't the only reason for thinking them alike. Which adds to the stuff sticking out behind their heads.
I was thinking of Dilophosaurus also when adding those appendages.

Great work, that's pretty much how I imagined her, or let's say, this is the closest to what I imagined.
I agree that her profile should follow the form of the mask, makes perfect sense.

I heard they were trying to make designs for the quarians, adding some lines on the forehead of a human and make the eyes white ain't very creative... =/
It annoys me a bit that the most sexy species (by the view of the races in that universe) is the human look alikes. (Asari and Quarians) I really think that a Turian should think an Asari odd in appearance. So i had better hopes for Quarians. Oh well

I know, right, I saw lot's of quarian concept art in the artbook before the game came out, and I got all excited wondering which one might be the final design. As it turns out, none of them were. I don't like the inconsistency and general laziness of that picture either. I have a hard time believing Tali had all that hair hidden under her helmet, her fingers are wrong and the nails are painted red (why would she paint them when they're always in her suit?), and she's in a grassy location wearing nothing but a blanket (unlikely to be Rannoch, since it seems more desert-like, and even if it is Rannoch, it makes no sense for her to run around outside without a lick of clothing when she's quarian).
I agree about the more human species being seen as the most attractive (even Javik seems to be into quarians >.>). Especially because humans aren't portrayed to be all that attractive to aliens (unless the human is Shepard). Even then, Garrus is all "okay Shep, I'll have a relationship with you, but just so you know, I don't have a human fetish" even though both asari and quarians apparently look like humans, and turians are really into them. Doesn't make sense with krogan either. I'll stop babbling, lol. It's just a bit facepalm-y.

Hands down, I wanted her to look like this... distinctly alien, an otherworldly beauty, not something typical. *shakes head* Bioware better have only been trolling us with that stock picture of her.

This is amazing, best i've seen too. I made a Tali face too. Tried to make it alienlike but it still ended up too humanoid. It's so difficult to make a wholly alien face look beautiful, but you've pulled it off amazingly. I'm so jealous xO

That's too awesome! I was so mad in ME2, after all that romancing, they still didn't show us her face. So I'm very pleased with your depiction.
She reminds me of the blue creatures out of Avatar.

I love this idea of Tali. She looks alien and not just some cute elf type character. Like how you've worked with not only what you can see but background stuff too.

I like the thought you've put into this, I never thought of them looking like their suits, but I certainly suspected they may have based the way the geth look on themselves (they have the same three-toe and finger thing)
After looking at it for a while I've realized that she looks a little insect-like to me. I think it's the mandibles and the interesting way that the bridge of the nose/skull splits in two (which is awesome by the way). I kinda wish they looked more alien, but since we know they have lips and two eyes and tear ducts and humanish noses it sadly restricts how alien they can look.
I really like the way the back of her head is too, like insect legs instead of the smooth turian and asari thing (it's nice to see something different with your design). I keep wanting the face to split a bit where the mandible comes from it with more raw looking skin under it (though this would probably put people off I guess
