I know that Talos isn't a planet but surely he became a Divine like the others, I mean how do you explain the blessings and such at his shrines? And yes the Thalmor of the 4th Era can go rot in Oblivion.

That aside this is an awesome art piece you did.

it is you who are insulting the Imperials.
It is the Thalmor you need to hate on.
The Imperials had no intention of outlawing the worship of Talos, but they had no choice, if they did not want to be destroyed.

Its a great piece.

But myself love to look at fantasy games from Scientific Points of View.
So from my POV: Sithis is space,
Oblivion is it's own galaxy, with each "sphere" a different planet.
And I make the Daedra/Aedra as VERY advanced aliens.

It is both completely different and at a higher level than anything science has come close to in this world.
If only the Dwemer hadn't been in such a hurry to "ascend", Tamriel would have been far more technologically advanced.
As far as we have seen so far, the ones who currently use magic, do not use it to improve technology, but as a weapon, or something for convenience...

Sadly, there is no "Scientific" way to look at the Elder Scrolls Universe. Magnus is truly a whole in the "Sky" that leads to the Afterlife (Aetherius) and it gives the Mortal Plane of Nirn its source of endless Magicka.

Masser and Secunda are Oblivion Planes and also the Dead corpse of the Aedra, Lorkhan. The Night Sky is a plane of Oblivion as well and when Magnus shines in the sky it covers the dark void of Oblivion with a blanket of Magicka, giving off the light blue sky during the day. (Masser and Secunda do not receive light from Magnus --> [link]

Too much to explain for the TES Universe but the "Science/Technology" of TES is Magicka and the knowledge on how to wield it. The reason why the TES universe hasn't enhanced its technology since the mythic era (beginning of mortal plane) is because who needs technology when someone can create a spell to do it for you? They will always be in that state of "Medieval Fantasy" world until either 1.The Thalmor succeed on destroying Reality or 2. Time progresses until it is truly time for the next Kalpa and Alduin returns to devour every single thing in existence.

Everything can be explained in a Scientific way.
You just have to remember that what science has discovered in this world, is not relevant when it comes to another world and/or universe.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Omegatank In reply to Guyver89 [2012-10-02 12:46:00 +0000 UTC]

That is being presumptuous. Your logic is people who don't understand the story or the lore try to base it off our reality. There is a fundamental problem with that. Well several.

1) How do you know that you are right, since humans are imperfect and bound to make mistakes. Better question would be when do you know that YOU (specifically you, Guyver89) have or have not made a mistake. Maybe you are making a mistake right now and haven't figured that out yet. Don't assume yourself to be correct, when you are still a human and more likely to be incorrect.

2) How do you know that they are wrong? Maybe they are actually right. The lore was made by humans and humans are deeply unimaginative, often borrowing and stealing from others. There could had been five different stories made from the 60s to the 80s and 90s that could had been ripped off to make each game. You don't know, but you cannot argue definitively that did not happen. You don't know. All you can do is defend and be political about it.

3) Why does the Lore not have to change? A story can always be improved and like it or not Bethesda actually does change the story to considerable bits. You would argue that it is only graphical change between Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. But that change in how the races look is a fundamental one, not just something you can brush off, because they are not the same as they were before. That is a difference. That is a change in the lore. The appearance of the Khajiit and the Argonians has everything to do with the lore of the series. Maybe you are more concern with the game, playing Skyrim only or Morrowind only, but when you speak of lore, it refers to the entire series, not just a single game of that series.

Honestly, I believe I can do a better job. The whole point of the lore is to possess some sense of immersion that makes you feel like you are in a different world, but that world is largely bland and empty. You spend most of your time being chased by wolves and bears or killing deer. The interaction you have with the different races is minimal by my standards and you don't really get to see much of how they interact. The Imperials and the Nords have the most interaction, but it is still minimal in Skyrim. There is little if any unique interaction of races in Oblivion, it mostly focuses on the Daedra anyway. Morrowind had more Dunmer significance, but that was all.

Supposedly the online game will allow you to immerse more with the races and the factions of the world, but there is nothing immersive about online play. You end up meeting Khajiits named after caterday gimicks like CeilingCat or PsychoCat. Possibly meeting a nord named Chuck Norris or an Imperial named Julius3489, how is that immersive of the lore? It isn't, but it is the closest you can get to.

My attempt to redo the entire series will make it more immersive. It is placed in the future in which the Empire is restored, but much more confederation like. The Dwemer and the Ayleids have return, new races which don't hurt the lore of prior have been created like the Ceymer, which are the Ashlanders that had change due to the volcanic eruption. They are now Shadow Elves, much darker and possess a greater strength in stealth at the cost of proficiency at destruction. There are breeds of Khajiit, some more elf or human looking and others the Suthay, which is entirely like the original. Half-Giants which roam over Hjallmarch and half ogres who roam over the deserts of Hammerfall. The Dovah now have the ability to transform into more humanoid looking creatures, which are still dragon looking, just more relative to human height with arms and legs. A Lycan race has been created that is a hybrid between vampires and werewolves. The Akaviri races are introduced. Ect... I also have the return of the Left-Handed elves as the Valkulmer, the Blood Elves, which are reds elves which recides on Islelets of Yokuda yet to be submerged.

Holy shit, why don't you just make up your own story instead of going around criticising and "changing" those of others? They're video games designed to give gamers a good time, and lore for those who are interested. Go looking for fantasy books if that's what you're after.

Praised be Magnus!

Great! The Best representation of the Creation and the Planes. Amazing!

"The planets are the gods and the planes of the gods, which is the same thing. That they appear as spherical heavenly bodies is a visual phenomena caused by mortal mental stress. Since each plane(t) is an infinite mass of infinite size, as yet surrounded by the Void of Oblivion, the mortal eye registers them as bubbles within a space." (COSMOLOGY. Author: Temple Zero Society)

"Magnus is the sun, the largest hole in Oblivion, and the gateway to magic. Magnus was present at the creation of the mortal plane, and, in fact, was its architect (Lorkhan was its advocate and inspiration). Prehistoric (before ME2500, startyear) Nirn was a magical place, and highly unstable to the first mortals. Magnus then left, some say in disgust, and Oblivion filled in the void with the Void. His escape was not easy, and tatters of Magnus remain in the firmament as stars." (COSMOLOGY. Author: Temple Zero Society)

Just proof that the mer are inferior. Their great architect fled, while Shor/Shezarr/Lorkhan, one of man's favorites, saw the plan through and, ultimately, died for it. And, really, he's still around and determining the type of Khajiit's born.

I was also under the impression (I can't find the source) that the spheres or planes of oblivion are what those in Mundus would perceive as stars, which would make the representation of the planes inaccurate, assuming I'm right.

It's all fantasy, anyhow. This is an incredible piece!

1. the Tsaesci would have ate everyone.

2. the Tsaesci and the ka po tung would have made them slaves and the tang mo would have helped the humans for a revolution that would have eventualy drove the Tsaesci and ka po tung back the akavir lands or the revolution would have eventualy made them all live in a some what harmony

4. by the forth era the mythic dawn would have summoned mehruins dagon and the world would have been conquered or alduin would have risen the dragons again but alduin would have failed since the Tsaesci not only eat humans but also eat dragons

-facepalm- Talos isn't an Aedra.. If anything due to lore technicality he's half Aedra Half Daedra. How? One he wasn't an original god, aka he didn't take place in creation of Mundus, Aedra are described as either giving themselfs completly to creation, aka the earth bones (elphony or something like that ) Daedra didn't have anything to do with Creation of mundus, thus retaining there full power. Talos, being a Mortal is decended from the Earth-bones, thus he did in a way have part to do with creation, despite those gods ( the earth-bones ) being broken down into individual souls and such. So to recap Talos could be considered a Daedra but at the same time, being desended from earth bones, and Acending, he Could also be considered Aedra, but, the aedra worshiping Empire named him Aedra, to avoid association with 'evil' Daedra. Ps I am an Imperial dog. and Talos's nordic name is Ysmir. Thought a Nord would know that
