...and now for something completely different.

I have finally defied the biased prompts and steered clear of adult Tokka! Hahaha! Not that I mind drawing them as adults, but I do miss their childhood. And in-series shenanigans.

Plus, the art is radically different from my usual in more than one way. It was a long, experimental process, but it turned out better than I expected.

like seriously why did she have to come in the middle of everything? i mean suki's cool and all... but they made toph's crush on sokka SO NOTICEABLE LIKE AOWIERQMOWIEUC and then they just leave you hanging with everythingΒ

i guess hate is a really strong word. IDK. she was like such a small detail in the beginning and then she just comes in later like OH HEY SOKKA I LOVE YOU AND STUFF. to me, the whole idea of her character is really, really cool. i guess toph and sokka are like that one couple that everyone wants together but in the end.. it is what it is. they didnt really provide any more details of suki and sokka after.. they also didn't reveal the identity of lin's father. it could be sokka, but i really doubt it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Toph and Sokka's relationship is so rich but Suki and Sokka's has more of a general romantic appeal... but that doesn't make it more interesting to me. xD But, as you say, it is what it is... that's why we have fanfiction.

I just think that sokka and suki's relationship was too.. i guess you could say.. it was too easy. does that make sense? it's sort of too.. cliche. Β yup. lol that's maybe the only reason why i go to deviantart and the fanfic sites.Β

I think I know what you mean. I could probably write a whole essay on why Sukka does and doesn't work for me. I think there was some good story to it, but maybe not enough... and then I don't really like their dynamic when they're acting like a regular couple. I like 'em better when it's not about their relationship.

Because really, how could they not be? Between adult Tokka being relatively unexplored -- along with being a major appeal to new shippers -- and the themes which just scream older Tokka... well, I've had to intentionally choose to make them younger to balance it out. xD
