Description The inking actually took me a long time to do since I done it with a ball pen (actually, I do all my inking that way).

Last Bronx is one of Sega's underrated 3D fighting game and a game I used to be into before Rival Schools came out.
I like Tommy's design and voice (constant reminder that he's 18, not 15).

All characters in the game has an alternative comedy weapon. Tommy's comedy weapon is a broom. ^^

Yep! It's not much a secret really... for example Joe's weapon is nunchakus, but you can replace them with two pieces of corn on the cobs tied together with string. XD;

You have a Sega Saturn? I have one too! Me and my dad used to always butt heads in Virtua Fighter and Fighters Megamix. Although I had heard of Last Bronx, I never played it. How is the game?

maiyeng In reply to EnigmaticPhilosophy [2007-05-05 14:10:30 +0000 UTC]

I use to have a Saturn until my bro gave it away. But I plan to buy one again as I already brought some games that I really enjoyed when I had the console.

Last Bronx is a fairly good game imo, though the loading time can be frustrating. It has some replay value and plenty of game modes like Survival, Time Attack, etc. It also uses the Virtua Fighter combo system and you can juggle your opponents for extra damage. Plus, there's anime endings for each character.

Aw, I totally missed out on Fighters Megamix. T_T
What other Sega Saturn games did you enjoy?

EnigmaticPhilosophy In reply to maiyeng [2007-05-05 18:23:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, there's Bug! and Bug Too!(the sequel to Bug!), Fighting Vipers, Panzer Dragoon, and the Sonic games were okay. (The Dreamcast and next-gen Sonic games were better) Oh, there was also Virtua Fighter 1 and 2, Clockwork Knight 1 & 2, as well as the Virtua Cop series. Oh, BTW, Fighters Megamix and Nights Into Dreams are two of the best games ever made for the Saturn! If you haven't played them, you're missing out on two real gems!
I also hear that the Saturn had a lot of good RPGs!

-Segata Sanshiro. Check it out at Youtube. He was Sega Japan's mascot while the Saturn was still blazing. SEGA SATURN SHIRO!

maiyeng In reply to EnigmaticPhilosophy [2007-05-05 23:07:08 +0000 UTC]

I definitely played Nights and Christmas Nights (Love them both!), Panzer Dragoon blew me away at the time for the great antomphere feel, Virtua Fighter 2 was the first fighting game I owned when I first had my Saturn, played both Clockwork Knight though I found them both kinda hard to pass and never got to finish them both as I didn't own either game. Virtua Cop series was a lot of fun.
Have you ever played Guardian Heroes? That's a great side scrolling beat 'em up/RPG game. I also like Burning Rangers and Shining Force 3.

Oh~, Segata Sanshiro cracks me up! The bomberman ad had me, my bro and few friends roaring with laughter! XD He turns up in "Rent-A-Hero No.1" game for Dreamcast!

EnigmaticPhilosophy In reply to maiyeng [2007-05-06 03:04:06 +0000 UTC]

Funny thing, you know Rent-A-Hero is a secret character in Fighters Megemix? He plays kinda like Tokio (from Fighting Vipers) and he is one of the only three characters in the entire game with a projectile attack! (The second being Bean from Sonic the Fighters, and the third being Janet from Virtua Cop 2)
Unfortunately, I never played Christmas Nights, only the original. I had heard about Guardian Heroes being one of the best Saturn games ever! I have yet to try it, though... Burning Rangers looked cool too. Wasn't it made by Sonic Team? They say the game's premise is kinda like "Virtua Firefighter" or something.
Segata Sanshiro is hilarious, isn't he? He was based off those old 70s tokusatsu shows (You know, Super Sentai aka Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, etc) with the super-strong, super-invincible martial artists or color-coded superhero teams whoopin' the evil forces' butts. I bet Segata Sanshiro is so powerful, that he is one of the only people in the world who could beat Chuck Norris. (rofl) But screw Norris, I wanna see Sanshiro take on Mr. T! (LMAO)

Last Bronx?! Cool, very cool. I'm glad to see these odd ball Sega fighters are not completely forgotten. Last Bronx & Fighting Vipers never quite gelled with people...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maiyeng In reply to urabob [2005-11-14 14:51:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can't forget the oldies. XD I don't remember what provoked me to remember Last Bronx earlier this year, but I sure found out some interesting ties between the characters than originally thought.
I really wish I owned Fighting Vipers. But alas, I don't own my Saturn anymore.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

EnigmaticPhilosophy In reply to maiyeng [2007-05-08 04:58:51 +0000 UTC]

Fighters Megamix is basically Fighting Vipers vs. Virtua Fighter, with ten secret characters from other Sega games. What's more, is that the game engine can be changed to the hyper-realistic Virtua Fighter style, or the fast-paced, no-holds-barred Fighting Vipers style. If you can, you should get Fighters Megamix! You won't be disappointed!

urabob In reply to maiyeng [2005-11-14 18:35:53 +0000 UTC]

I still have my Saturn around. In fact, I think I have two now. Fighting Vipers 2 came out on Dreamcast- do you have one of those? And later this year, FV will come out for the Japanese PS2. So you have options.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maiyeng In reply to urabob [2005-11-15 07:57:45 +0000 UTC]

I don't own a Dreamcast, though I have borrowed the console from a close friend of mines for a few months. XD;
My only option is the PS2 version. Though I hope it is a good conversion, after hearing what happened to VF2. @_@

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

urabob In reply to maiyeng [2005-11-15 15:08:48 +0000 UTC]

FV2 was a bit stinky, but it was still FV. I'm hoping the PS2 version makes it over here, but I won't hold my breath. A lot of these Sega Ages don't make it over here. I'm still waiting on Phantasy Star. T_T

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maiyeng In reply to urabob [2005-11-15 21:52:31 +0000 UTC]

So I've heard (about FV2 being not up to standard and about Sega Ages imports). I need to ask if imports from Japan can be played on our PS2 since my bro has a Magic Swap disk (which he got, so he could play the US release of Urban Reign).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

urabob In reply to maiyeng [2005-11-16 18:11:13 +0000 UTC]

Since you can play a US game... then yeah, probably. I'd be surprised if you couldn't. I'm using the same method to play a few Capcom games that won't make it here. Darkstalkers for one. FV2 was missing something that the original had. Can't quite put my finger on it though. Maybe it was the time it entered my life?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maiyeng In reply to urabob [2005-11-16 19:03:47 +0000 UTC]

Funny that I never even saw FV2 in the arcades here. Surely there must be something wrong, cause it didn't have great reviews here. XD;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

urabob In reply to maiyeng [2005-11-16 19:41:12 +0000 UTC]

I saw it in the arcades. It was much nicer. I remember seeing Sonic The Fighters in the arcades too and I know that one didn't make it around much outside of Japan. So I hear. Really though, arcades are kinda dead now. Sad really.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maiyeng In reply to urabob [2005-11-16 21:49:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, Sonic The Fighters. I was kind of anticipating for a release for the Saturn, but of course, that didn't happen. But the Sonic Gem collection has it, kinda past it's prime so I didn't really enjoy it much.
True. I think the only thing I saw in the arcades that's new is the new version of OutRun.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

urabob In reply to maiyeng [2005-11-17 05:33:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... Sonic Gems collection. It was a mixed bag. I mean on one hand... hurray! Finally got Sonic CD, Sonic the Fighters & Sonic R. On the other hand we got Sonic CD, Sonic the Fighters & Sonic R. It would have been nice if Sonic Gems and Sonic Mega Collection were on one disc. Instead of milking us... again. I mean, I already bought Sonic Jam. I suppose there will be another Sonic Collection around the corner. Sonic Arcade and Knuckles Choatix are still unaccounted for.

maiyeng In reply to urabob [2005-11-17 17:52:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I didn't feel that satisfied with Sonic Gems collection. It would have been nice to have Knuckles Choatix included in the collection.
As for Sonic Arcade, that brings back some fond memories and aching wrists. XD;;

There is a hole in my heart as I never got to play Sonic Arcade. Although I do remember staring at it. I had no quarters it seemed. I remember the track ball and I remember the isometric view point. Sigh... yet, I have the soundtrack? Go figure. o.O

Yay! Thank you for the fav~!
The characters all have pretty neat designs, but Tommy stood out as the best of them all.
Last Bronx is one of those games were Sega put a lot of effort into, but had a very short lived success.
I like the fact that all stages are based on actual places in Tokyo.

Wow, you drew him really well!

you definately got alot of character into him, too-- the way he's sitting, and the expression on his face both say alot. The lineart is super clean and bold, and the colors are bright and solid. The cell-shaded style looks so nice! Well detailed as always, big sis Mai. I really like this. =]
