“Can I get some more jell-o here please?” You placed an empty plastic bowl on the table beside your bed
The nurse, a young fairly pretty girl, named Laura smiled. “I’ll see what I can do.”
“Oh, wait. You know what else would be really really… coool?”
Laura turned around with an amused expression. “What?”
“Ice-cream, get it. It’s cool. But seriously Ice-cream would be nice.”
Laughing, she tucked a strand of raven coloured hair behind her ear. “I’m not sure if we have Ice-cream I’ll ask.”

With a sigh you rested you head on the stiff pillow. Damn those pain meds made you tired. Allowing your eyes to flicker close you smiled, a small nap wouldn’t hurt.

“Miss ____.”
Opening your eyes slowly, you cursed the pain killers. “Mhmm.” Your eyes closed again.
“____! Wake up.” Fury scratched his head, turning to a doctor in the room. “How much medication is she on?”
“Let’s just say enough, she probably won’t be properly awake for another few hours.”
“I’ll have to come back later. Don’t give her anymore medication until I’ve spoken to her.”

Groaning, you sat up slowly, the pain was back full force. However this time it was accompanied by a stiff neck.
“I was wondering when you’d be up.” Clint sat in a very uncomfortable looking chair in the far corner of the room. “How are you feeling?”
Noticing a series of cuts and bruises, adorning his handsome face, you frowned. “You’re hurt.”
He rolled his eyes, running a hand though his hair. “Not really, it’s you I’m worried about ____.” He stood, moving towards your hospital bed. “What were you thinking, leaping on Dynamo like that?”
You averted your gaze. Taking note of the plastic bowl beside your bed, filled with melted ice-cream and green jell-o. “Aww I forgot to eat my jell-o.” Tears began to fill your eyes, forcing you to blink them away. Why the hell were you crying about jell-o? It was delicious, yes, but no that delicious.
“Can you stop changing the subject?”
Bringing your gaze up to meet his hazel eyes you got lost. There was a huge array of browns and greens. Some you’d never known existed.
“______.”
“S-someone had to stop it right? If I hadn’t atta-“
“You’re not an agent yet. It was not your job to stop him… it was mine.”
.“Why do you even care?” The tears from before decided to make reappearance. “People die all the time. Hell, I know for a fact numerous agents died the other day. People you would have known far longer than you’ve known me.”
He looked down at his feet, brow furrowed.
“Clint, why do you care?”
Turning his head away he sighed. “I don’t know. I just do, ok?”
“No it’s not ok! Nothing about the way you were just talking to me is ok.” You couldn’t deal with any of this at the moment. “Just leave Barton. I don’t want you here.”
