Pokedex Challenge #39 #40I'm drawing the pokemons as they appear in the gameboy games: pokemon red and blue version, while I learn how to draw with Paint Tool Sai.

What happened to Jigglypuff?! It's original design keeps me wondering "why?" It has one eye bigger than the other, the smaller one is align to the bottom of the bigger one. I wanted to keep this difference, but I made it less severe. It's tuft isn't round like the redesign, and it had pink cheeks.
Wigglytuff had white ears tips and smaller ears than the new design has.

I was asking myself the same question when I saw the original sprite before. I like how cute they look here, especially Wigglytuff, and good thing you chose the Red and Blue version, since in Green it looks a little too crazy

No matter what I did, I couldn't keep bulbasaur like the sprite without it seeing strange lol

Oh, I think that looks neat. Perhaps it may look a bit strange due to the fact that Bulbasaur resembled much more to a frog in its early days, now it has a bit of more reptilian traits, especially its sprite in Yellow.
It's quite funny seeing the differences between the first sprites and the reworked ones, and the freakish Wigglytuff is proof of that. (Although some of them still look pretty interesting, such as the more fetus-like Mew from Green)

The fetus like mew is bizarre! Maybe it was supposed to look like fetus (the books in the cinnabar mansion were about mewtwo giving birth), but we will never know now haha.
I love Bulbasaur's new design to be honest. But the idea of starting the game with pokemons that you may find next to your house irl (like a frog, lizard and turtle), and seeing it evolve when it is far away is a nice touch
