Description
Mammuthus meridionalis is a species of mammoth hailing from the Early to Mid Pleistocene of Europe and Central Asia, at a time when there was a warm, mild climate in much of those areas. 4 meters tall at the shoulder and 10 tons in weight, M.meridionalis was a browser which inhabited mixed deciduous forests and fed on ash, beech, oak, and other trees, and shared its habitat with fellow proboscidean Paleoloxodon and the rhino Stephanorhinus.
