Description
Kelenken guillermoi was the largest carnivorous bird ever to walk the earth, standing up to 2.7 or 3 meters tall, and it also had the largest skull of any bird alive or extinct, measuring over a meter long. And with its massive, powerful beak K.guillermoi would have used deadly strikes to severe the necks and backs of its smaller, four-legged mammal prey running around the grassy plains of what is now Patagonia. But despite its very eagle-like looks K.guillermoi and its kin, the Phoruschracids or “Terror Birds” , which includes Phoruschracos and Andalgalornis, are actually related to the much smaller Seriemas of the present day, hence the very seriema-like look for the huge extinct bird here.
