Description Art Trade #7, theme Steampunk.
For
Character: Laff (and Grvid)

I don't know if it was actually a bone saw on the character ref sheet, but that's sure what I named the layer, after growing it 20times larger.... : D Anyway, Laff fit right into this style (what with his already Victorian esq clothing leading the way) and Grvid---The shading makes it hard to tell his smiling and enjoying his cute goggles a lot.
Major props to *Alystar (for helping with the background) and =cloaks (who texture I stole) and ~ikara69 for sitting there and telling me things to keep changing. :3

I use adobe photoshop CS3 for everything (outside of original sketches, which are mostly done in MS paint)

This is awesome! I love the texture you used on his vest! And that weapon looks badass! The atmosphere is awesome, and I love the color palette, too. My favorite parts have to be his hair, hat and vest. Awesome work on this~

They are a frustration of mine.... I'll have to invest some time browsing various fashion websites or something because I have issues with designing outfits - very low levels of complexity/detail become busy, disorganized and ugly... I need to give my imagination a bigger repertoire to draw from and better organizations skills.

When you have the time, type 'fashion' into google, and just browse--it's rather interesting. And when I'm in clothing stores I shop more mentally for my characters, than I ever do for myself. lol so yes--invest a tiny drop of spare time you may be fortunate enough to find in just looking. n.n It's helpful. xd

XD I do that too - especially when I go clothes shopping with my sister - unfortunately I can never remember the details by the time I get to a pencil and piece of paper. I need to make a day where I just go to different stores with a sketch pad and a pencil and sketch.

I need a list of things to do when bored (Or braindead) lol.

I spend a great deal of bored moments...browsing the net looking at all sorts of things.....

And yeah, I never remember the exact piece of clothing, but at the right moment something about it comes back to me and I think----YEAH! that's IT!
