My first real try on making a planet (mwawawaaaa, i am god! )
This is the work of many many many tutorials in making planets and in the end i dumped them all and made the planet my way which turned out to be just as good (although may have taken longer than the tutorials did)

The cool thing in this picture is that everything except the sun/star thing comming up from behind New Europe is actually the same figure with just different colors and on different layers.
The sun/star (you choose what it is) is a flare using the filter in photoshop and all that is done to it is duplicate layer and the top most layer is smudged out a bit to bring a more authentic look to it.

Entire thing took about 1 hour i think and not 100% pleased with the lighting, but i judged it good enough to not end up in scraps. You have to look a bit to see anything weird on it anyway.
