Description Was working on this project for school, and eventually I decided it would be cool to mold it into a vehicle for my series instead, So I've been spending a few of the past days fixing this model up to fit into the Contention universe.  Taking some cues from the previous incarnation of the SF-21 I wanted to keep the look reminiscent of all other UES ship design, with the side wing structures and all intact. But this time I think the design is much more appealing and sleek and echoes the look of the UES's larger starships way more than the last model. Decided to go all out on this one and just go with a high poly model so this is sitting at 147k polys right now.

Full designation: HP SF-21 "Dragonfly" Exo-atmospheric fighter/interceptor
Manufacturer: HP Heavy Armaments, Fentir Military Machinery Division
Introduced: 2312
Length: 15.2 meters
Width: 4.3 meters
Engine units: HP Sentinel V-86RD Anti-Hydrogen reactor/GRV-50 Reaction thrusters
Weaponry: HP Mk-75A5 Railgun (primary), HP M101 Hornet .60 cal turrets (2, secondary), HP Mk-349D homing missiles (6,tertiary)/Can be fitted with assortment of up to 5 heavy ordnance missiles (Fissile, fusion, antimatter)
Armor: Fentir CRC-2 lightweight composite armor
Crew Complement: 1 pilot
Roles: Rapid assault, fleet support, combat with enemy fighters, harassment of enemy forces, destruction of stationary targets, light combat actions against starships

The SF-21 Dragonfly fighter/interceptor has become a staple of UES naval power since its introduction. Flying into service 3 years before the end of the Independence War between the UES and the 2 other human factions, the Dragonfly proved to be superior in every aspect to its predecessor the ESC M245 Jackal. The Dragonfly's updated and streamlined systems allow it to be prepped and launched in half the time, its weapons are more efficient, its antimatter reactor is magnitudes more powerful than the Jackal's fusion reactor, and its smaller which allows more of the Dragonfly crafts to be carried on UES ships. The SF-21 was mass produced after the UES emerged victorious from the Independence War, and by the mid 2320's they had nearly completely replaced aging Jackal except in UES colonial militia groups and training facilities. The SF-21 has built a reputation of being very sturdy and nimble during maneuvers in vacuum, out matching every opponent during the Independence War and the following campaign against the Empire Organization. Even during the Factions War from 2336-2337 when the 3 human factions fought once more, the Dragonfly was able to prove itself as superior to all other fighter platforms fielded by the Allied Confederation and Unified Republics. In the past few decades the Dragonfly has been modified into several different variants, the SF-21HB, an up-armored heavier platform designed specifically to assault enemy starships, the SF-21SRV which is a smaller and lighter platform with impressive stealth and reconnaissance abilities, and the SF-21AAC, made specifically for in-atmosphere operations and designed to be optimally aerodynamic in Earth-like environments.

Even now that the UES is trapped in a devastating war with the Exohuman race, the Dragonfly continues to dominate the fighter aspect of combat in vacuum. Until 2347, Exohuman naval forces didn't even have the number of mass produced fighter craft to compete with the UES, allowing Dragonfly squadrons to focus on harassing Exohuman starships, which proved to be a very useful factor during the initial Exohuman assault on Earth as larger ships could be kept busy and give the UES navy vital time to regroup. The Exohuman' answer to the Dragonfly has been the Me'Rhax (translated roughly to predator in english) and although a competent and powerful fighter, the Me'Rhax has still been inferior to the Dragonfly in terms of speed, maneuverability and versatility, choosing to focus more on raw firepower and armor.

Pretty good interceptor, I really like how did you manage to make all the faction's ships quite similar to each other Maybe there is any chance for a faction to have triangular shaped ships like the ones seen in star wars? I would love to see what you could manage to do with it.

Great to hear man I'm glad you like the design And there's definitely a chance for more triangular ships showing up here, the Exohumans specifically are going to have very angular designs similar to the links you sent.

well...for me i completely chase realism in this. (please never mind my ignorance but i just never read that stuff you put there which may contain info that collides with what im about to say)

Now i think this fighter is going to be too heavy to maneuver its way around incoming fire and obstacles because it just looks too chunk-ed  and closed up.
Jets/fighters, naturally, are supposed to look buoyant in nature which means wings and fins. It is certainly going to give it an edge in combat.

but the modeling is very creative and this guy certainly looks good. I like it by the way....ive never attempted crafts and vehicles

No worries man! and you're totally right about the design if this were meant to fly in an atmosphere like Earth's, but this variant that I have up is exclusively for space combat, they would never enter a planet's atmosphere (unless the pilot was really insane or something) so there's no worry about air resistance, a planet's gravitational forces, etc. It could literally be a brick with thrusters for all space is concerned really Plus the design is purposefully a bit closed up to reduce the size of the vehicle and make it way harder to hit while its fighting and doing space-barrel rolls and all that haha.

What i forgot to type down in the description is there are several variants of this and one of them is meant for in-atmosphere flight. They're way more aerodynamic than this version with all that kind of stuff that jets would naturally have, plus they're a bit less cramped for the pilot, in fact i'll add that down asap to clear up any confusion here.

I'm glad you like it though! I worked for a few days on this so Its nice that someone thinks its cool   I'd say you should try your hand at some vehicles too man they're really fun to model!

since its space only and the physics of wings is not needed, then theres no problem at all .
I do have plans of modeling a 'multiphase' vehicle (as i like to call it for now)

Keep up the good work man.

Awesome man I'll definitely check out your vehicle when you get to modeling it, multiphase would be really cool to see, and i'll keep it up as best as i can
