I don't think Feferi or Condy have colored eyelashes. It is a good color though!

This is AWESOME.

Now, to find makeup I'm not allergic to would be the issue...

Ma'am, Monistat gel is NOT a substitute for Smashbox! People say it 'has the same ingredients', but it doesn't!
These are the Smashbox ingredients- Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Trisiloxane, Silica, Dimethicone/ Vinyldimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Extract, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua, Eau), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Cola Acuminata Seed Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract

And these are the Monistat ingredients- Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Trisiloxane

They share some ingredients, but they are in different quantities and Smashbox has many more ingredients. Here is a comparison of the two- [link]

I don't know why on earth anyone would consider it an actual alternative.... Basically, it is like saying that since chlorine shares an ingredient with salt, it should work as a substitute. Please don't try putting chlorine in your food instead of salt and please do not use chaffing cream on your face!

Oh my goodness, that is gonna be hard! Yeah I freaked out when I saw people doing that it could be dangerous! Maybe it isn't, but all the same it certainly isn't a substitute for primer, even a cheap primer would be better! Thanks for teh link!

MaliceMidnight In reply to Nefairyious [2013-07-10 03:36:45 +0000 UTC]

i think a lot of it is because many of the ingredients are the same, and they are both made for the skin that people just kind of. were like "wait yes this is perfect. yesss monistat is just as good aaah jackpot"

Nefairyious In reply to MaliceMidnight [2013-07-10 13:35:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! I can't help but think that part of the reason people rave about it is because they WANT it to work. It is cheap after all, although I know where I can get Smashbox primer for $8(yay department store outlets) as well so that doesn't matter to me much! Maybe it even works for some peopl but I've seen too many people get horrible breakouts from it! Since it isn't made for your face it can clog your pores really easily.

MaliceMidnight In reply to Nefairyious [2013-07-12 04:23:19 +0000 UTC]

right?
that only thing too though is that they both are products that smooth out the skin. the only difference is that one is for a smooth canvas for makeup and the other is to eliminate any discomfort. both are effective in that way. i think it's those first 3 or 4 ingredients. but yeah i see what you mean.

Nefairyious In reply to MaliceMidnight [2013-07-12 15:14:58 +0000 UTC]

Yep, Smashbox also has a bunch of other stuff not listed on monistat, stuff that will help makeup stay and keep your pores from being infected!

xYazzieex [2013-07-06 08:29:16 +0000 UTC]

for the coloured eyelashes, do you think putting vaseline on my lashes and putting lipstick on a brush to colour it would work? because i cant find red mascara anywhere or clear mascara :\ great tutorial btw!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

MaliceMidnight In reply to xYazzieex [2013-07-09 20:20:51 +0000 UTC]

also using vaseline and lipstick so close to your eye can also clog pores and cause infections and styes. if infections go untreated they may also cause blindness in some cases. hard candy and plenty of drugstore brands that will carry pink and blue mascara.

you can get kryolan here: [link] you just need a clean makeup brush and a few drops of water.

xYazzieex In reply to MaliceMidnight [2013-07-12 09:18:21 +0000 UTC]

ahh i see, thank you both so much! i'll be sure try both your methods c:

Nefairyious In reply to xYazzieex [2013-07-09 12:37:38 +0000 UTC]

NO. Lipstick isn't made to be safe for your eyes! Don't risk your eyes for a costume! You can use a clear mascara and mix in red eyeshadow(you can get it at Sephora(Sephora brand eyeshadow, color Geisha Kiss) on sale for $5 right now I think)

I have a question on the Ben Nye materials. How many uses does a single creme color container have? I'm planning on doing my first serious cosplay and I have no idea how many I might need to buy for a three day convention, and maybe a practice use or two to see how it works. They're fairly cheap so I'm not too worried on if I have to buy 2 or 3 of them but I'd just like to know. :33

MaliceMidnight In reply to Strangeneko [2013-06-02 12:34:19 +0000 UTC]

I usually buy 3 or four just to be safe but i also do other people's makeup.(sorry for the late reply)

I was curious as to how much you spent on the BenNye body make-up?
My girlfriend is needing it for Maracline. :3
Thank you.~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaliceMidnight In reply to xunsunghero [2012-12-10 20:12:09 +0000 UTC]

it depends. sorry this is probably way too late in the game but it's about 3-5 dollars for a pan of makeup. it's not cheap can usually go through anywhere from 2 to 4 pans of this makeup in a convention. but it depends on how much area you have to cover. c:
for covering arms i recommend using pax: a mix of prosaide and acrylic paint

Ahhh! This is awesome~
You're makeup is so smooth and perfect too *3*
I use the Ben Nye white but it tends to look cakey, especially once I add the powder for some reason X3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaliceMidnight In reply to UnforgivingPencil [2012-12-10 20:01:06 +0000 UTC]

oh odd. do you use the clown white, or the white creme liner, or the white foundation. i would try the creme foundation if the creme line isn't working. it ha s a bit of a different consistency.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UnforgivingPencil In reply to MaliceMidnight [2012-12-13 02:09:23 +0000 UTC]

At the time I was using the clown white, which I think has a much thicker consistency and is oil based. /shot'd/
I've actually recently ordered the foundation creme in white though, so I'll see how everything turns out aha >w<
Thanks for the awesome tutorial!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaliceMidnight In reply to UnforgivingPencil [2013-06-19 10:08:21 +0000 UTC]

hey no problem!!~ yeah the foundation and creme liner is a little bit smoother on the skin and wont cake up like clown white will and it's a little bit more forgiving and will let the skin breathe a little more.

I'm sorry if I missed it somewhere, but would you mind telling me where you got the kryolan and colorless face powder? I'm having a hard time finding it anywhere. ;w;

MaliceMidnight In reply to SinsooRosario [2012-02-13 00:26:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh hey yeah no problem c:
Kryolan:[link]

Face powder: [link]

make sure you select Neutral in the color selection drop down thing
it's the same one i just got recently. it's 8 ounces of powder so it will last and it's a better deal then getting 2 1.75oz shaker bottles for $10.50
if you can get this at a local magic/costume/theatrics store i would get it there you will save a few bucks in shipping.

I'm sorry to bombard you with questions and what not. :c
I'm using your tutorial to actually do a Vriska cosplay. And that seller doesn't seem to have that exact product in a color that would work for her.
This seems the closest to her eyelash color, but it's a different product. [link]
Would it work as well, despite glowing in the dark? :/

while the UV blue is cool under a blacklight i have a problem with getting any of the UV col,ors to show up upaque enough. they tend to be very streaky and patchy. so yeah i think that L10 would be wonderful

MaliceMidnight In reply to SinsooRosario [2012-02-13 05:33:03 +0000 UTC]

i found some better colors here [link] scroll down a bit until you hit the blues its the 510 or l10 but i am eyeing the L10 for vriska i think it's a really great match for her

Where did you get your ben nye makeup and the red kryolan aquacolor makeup

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MaliceMidnight In reply to Mangakahime [2012-02-12 23:14:13 +0000 UTC]

I got mine from a costume/ Magic shop in saint paul. so if you have one near you i would go there and see. I found out about this shop by getting on google ant typeing in "Ben Nye Creme Color Liner" and then added my city after it. otherwise I got my Kryolan from Amy Doan (Shrinkle(on ebay)/Creator of Sugarpill Cosmetics) but chances are that you can get the Kryolan Aquacolor at the costume and magic shop. You can also get the Ben Nye at any clown makeup shop I will put links below.

Kryolan: [link]

i will warn you now that it is so much cheaper to get this stuff locally or you will be paying out the ass prices for ben nye.
