Description The Tatzelwurm, a mythical creature mostly found in Europe. It is often depicted as a hybrid of a cat and a snake, not a very big creature but is very deadly. The Tatzelwurm is highly venomous, capable of killing a human instantly and also has toxic breath.

The Australian Tatzelwurm however is bigger and is more so a hybrid of a snake and a goanna. Often appearing having a head of a snake, lizard or cat like body, twisted horns, floppy goblin-like ears and a mane with a couple of quills. These beasts are more varied in looks and colouration, basically mimicking native snakes. They come in seperate types: Python, Colubrid, Boa, Elapid and many more. Its rumoured that they change in appearance if moved to a non native area.

When born they hatch out legless, like a regular snake, the only way to tell apart from a baby Tatzelwurm and a real snake is that Tatzelwurms have external ears and 2 little bumps on top of their head. In a few days the babies sprout their limbs, similar to how a tadpole becomes a frog.

Oz Tatzelwurms are not venomous even the ones that resemble venomous snake species. But their bite can still send you to hospital if you’re lucky enough to not get bit into the skull as their jaws are strong enough to pierce their teeth thru the skull and into the brain. They don’t actively go after people but rather avoid them. Most of the reported attacks are from people trying to kill them so they fight back to defend themselves.

Tatzelwurms mostly feed on cattle and horses making them a huge problem to farmers which led a hunt for these beasts and kill them which is where the majority of deadly attacks occur. These reptiles are larger than a bear so they are difficult to take down. Some farmers/hunters find other ways to attempt killing them by ramming their utes and trucks into them but that only makes them more vulnerable, unaware that they can use their sharp, twisted horns...
