Golden Demises are wyvern-like reptiles that once dominated Amasis over 500,000 years ago. Back then they are a massive threat to many civilisations, known to snatch up children, pick on the old and the weak and slaughter livestock once Sirius sets. It became too dangerous to be outdoors in the evening that leaders had to put a strict curfew in heavily targeted regions. Usually whole swarms come in, after a while only a few show up.

After the recent mass extinction, 70% of them were wiped out during the event, many survivors years later began dropping dead suddenly from an unknown cause and since then they were thought to be extinct. 300,000 years later, one individual was discovered on Marardo island resting on a tree, continuously calling for days on end until it eventually died, then 2 more individuals showed up, likely responded to the now dead one’s cries. Both appeared healthy and possibly a pair or just inseparable siblings. Unless there are more individuals out there, there’s no hope for the species. Extinction is inevitable at this point.

There is a theory of a whole other world underground where once extinct and potentially new or undiscovered species thrived. This could explain the very recent sightings of the Golden Demise after many, many millennia where they should’ve been gone long ago. This place is also said to be where Sirius retreats to, becoming the source of sunlight for this hidden world. So there is at least some hope for this species and many others that are at risk.
